I'm trying to figure out where the hell all these people who are saying negative things about the PSP Go not playing UMD's were when I was reading everywhere that people were tired of the UMD. Saying that it drains the battery to fast and how it makes it not truly portable.
Sony takes it out and now I'm reading everywhere that people are not happy with the decision. I don't get it. The 3000 series isn't going anywhere. UMD isn't going anywhere. The PSP Go IS NOT REPLACING THE CURRENT SETUP. If you don't want digital only there is still the 3000 series.
For the people saying the PSP Go doesn't play PSP games, you need to really check your facts. It does and will play every PSP game on the market. How many will be there at launch of the system? 100 games. On day 1. I don't know if that number includes what is currently being put on the Store, but that's still a good portion of PSP games.
For the people that will now say that the PSP Go doesn't have a UMD drive, there for it can't play my exsisting library of PSP games/the people who will say that "I will have to buy the games all over again and I'm not going to do that". Well Sony is apparently working on a way to allow you get digital copies of your UMD collection.
From what I can see is that the increase in the retail price is the only negative thing I can find about the system.
As for the topic, I don't see PSP reaching the 100 million unit mark. A more logical (or reasonable) range would be 65-80 million. While that's a big range, I honestly don't think anyone can truly predict or estimate how the PSP will do between now and when Sony pulls the plug on it. Another factor is we have no idea when Sony is going to discontinue their first handheld effort. We also don't have any idea what the plans are for the next year.
