PSP Games sell incredibly well in Japan. Any game that's half decent is almost 100% 100k sales and that's not bad. I suspect this will do at least 200-300k in japan, and maybe push the sales of the PS3 game up a bit too. This is a fantastic move by Sega, don't you people see what they are doing? First PS3, then an anime, and now the PSP game? Sega is trying to create a big franchise, and I think if they keep opening up more doors for more people to experience this amazing game they will. Expect VC sales on the PS3 in japan to go up after they release the PSP version. This engine is timeless, they need not work on it in ANY way. due to its unique style the canvas engine will still be perfectly fine for PS3 games even late in the console life. I highly expect Sega to follow this up with a Story line sequel on the PS3 after the PSP is out there.

I agree with you, decent PSP releases sell a lot in Japan these days - latest examples being My Summer Vacation IV and Project Miku.

Come on now, use the resources we have here. Tons of PSP games sell under 100k. While the legs of PSP games have vastly improved, not every game is a hit.

I know not all PSP games are a hit, but japanese psp games tend to have solid sales ( I was merely responding to those that are saying it is a fail move to put it on the psp.)

this should be on PS3 as well just like LBP is on the PS3/PSP i see no reason why they would exclude the PS3 considering how pleased Sega was of the sales increase. That's a pretty rotten way to treat those fans that helped promote the game

I agree that it makes perfect financial sense for them to do this.

Hey as long as they continue the franchise I'm all for it...Hell I might buy this twice. Once on UMD that I will never open and the other DD on my PSPGO! Sony is making all the right moves to make sure Japan gets treated nicely. With countless JRPGs being announced for the Handheld.

And this is also an excellent move to broaden the franchise's appeal to the Japanese Market. Since the PSP has more console's sold there then the PS3

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Nope. This is a Japan-centric title, and games in Japan sell much better on PSP.

I wanted Persona 5 instead. :(

Or at least a Super Kirby RPG
