Forums - Sony - Heavy Rain pushed into 2010 by “crowded” Christmas

Source: www.vg247.com

Heavy Rain will release in 2010 to give it “space to live” away from the hectic Christmas retail period, Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere has told GI.

“Purely from my perspective, most publishers today realise that it’s not ideal to release a new IP or a new genre just before Christmas,” he said.

“It’s a very crowded place to be, and certain games need more space to live their life. Everybody at working on the project, both at Quantic and Sony, believe this is the right time.”

The thriller’s alpha was delivered on April 15, the developer added, “on time, on budget”.

Expect a better look from Gamescom in Cologne next month

A 2010 release is better than it not being released at all. Most of PS3 best exclusives are coming 2010.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Yess, 1 less game to buy this year...Phew what a relief.

Looks like 2010 will be better than 2009?

I always thought Christmas sales done wonders for game sales i dont see why not? I want to say "but they're the experts so they know what they're talking about"...but i kinda feel they dont know what they are talking about.

Q1 2010 looks more crowded than this Christmas.

Hmm, for some reason I thought this was 2010 anyways, so I guess it was a good idea.  Early 2010 is looking pretty crowded though, Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, FFXIII, now Heavy Rain, and I am sure I am missing a bunch.

I say it just depends on their timing of release this Xmas but then again I think pushing it to early 2010 aint that bad either just to be sure there arnt big competitions like COD4 specially it's a new IP trying to get established.

Yeah, ME 2, God of War 3 and then if you extend it into Spring you have FF XIII, Alan Wake (?), Mod Nation Racers, the PS Mote, White Knight Chronicles and Gran Turismo 5 will most likely be stuck somewhere in there

^ + Dead Rising 2, Dante's Inferno & some other smaller games (I am Alive)

It depends on the game. If it's a high profile and famous game it won't have any problem selling loads of copies. Hate to admit it but games like Heavy Rain will be overlooked by many because of high profile games like COD, AC2, Uncharted 2, and many more.
