Forums - Nintendo - A release list history of GameCube vs. Wii

You should be making a list of games that the USA got Wii vs GC and the difference will be much bigger in favor of the GC. Plus, if you only count retail games and no ports, the Wii list looks diminute for the current year.

Nintendo did support the GC better, so far this year we are getting 5 new retail games for the Wii, while the GC in the same year got 12.

What a lousy list. I'll do one myself. This will be taken from the NTSC region and will include retail games. If someone else wants to do one for PAL, be my guest. If someone wants to bitch about it only being retail games, be my guest.

I already knew the Wii has had a much stronger line up than the GC, and that's even with this list missing many games. Not that I'm saying it was on purpose or anything, just that you can't list everything, third party and whatnot. Especially with the huge third party list coming out this year like Muramasa, Dragon Ball, Little King Story, etc.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Rol saved my day!

Oh and S&P is 2010 according to Nintendo.

I'm comparing Nintendo as a company, not NoA, basically just a distributer.

Also I agree with KylieDog, to an extent but this is just looking at the fact people claim Nintendo make fewer games nowadays. It's third parties that need to lift their game. Some may say, but sales won't be as high for them! Well they should have thought of that before 2 years had passed and people had pigeon holed the Wii as it is today.

There isn't a hardcore userbase because third parties didn't try to make one.

Yeah thats looks good on paper, but when you are a 13 year old kid with only a Gamecube and there is only 4 good games a year, it gets sad.

Thank Jesus, i got a PS2 for my birthday a few years after i got the Cube.

Too be honest the GameCube in my mind is Nintendo's best system ever built. Almost every one of Nintendo's franchises made appearances. As you can see by the list casual games out number hardcore games on the Wii. I want my Donkey Kong , StarFox, F-Zero , CustomRobo, Pikmin and so fourth!

Comparing Nintendo as a company is pointless to the average gamer you're trying to prove something to though. They want games from Nintendo, but they want them in their region. If Nintendo makes 20 games a year, but only 5-10 show up in your region, then what do you care that ten other games were made? You can't play them. A lot of people here don't pay enough attention to the situation to understand what's really going on. They see few games being made and they call foul. Others such as myself, trestres and a few other complainers see the problem being Nintendo pushing forth niche products and otherwise second tier "core" offerings for the Japanese audience, leaving the Americas and Europe out in the dust. Why should I care that Japan got Giftpia, or Fatal Frame IV, or Captain Rainbow? If they don't come out in my region, or at least in my language, then they are worthless to me as a consumer. They basically don't exist.

The problem exists with Nintendo of Japan not pushing forth smaller scale traditionalist offerings for audiences outside of Japan, catering to it's smallest region, and it's also the fault of NOE and NOA for not localizing those Japanese offerings and giving us some smaller scale titles to look forward to. It happens on the DS far too much also, just that nobody notices what they're missing because third party software is fantastic and acts as a buffer.

If you want to see the real situation at hand, do three lists, one for each region based on that region's release dates. That will let you see precisely why people bitch.
