When it comes to this sort of thing I'm a moral absolutist. Not otherwise! But in this case, yes.
Don't care about Obama's motivation. If Bush committed war crimes - well, Hell, that's all there is, isn't it?

Of course the issue is... and i think this is Mafoo's worry...
Nothing will be done.
"Bush committed Warcrimes, was guilty of this crime that crime yadda yadda."
Then nothing will come of it.
Making it an expensive investigation that didn't put one person in jail.

Do you mean that it would be a-okay if the investigation carried the real and terrifying possibility of putting a large portion of Bush's staff (including the man himself) in prison for a while?
Man I thought that was what these investigations were about. Putting people in jail! For crimes!
Crime gets you put in jail!

If he's guilty, lock him up. I don't care if it's the Pope, Mother Teresa or the Easter Bunny.

I think so.
But no... that's not what Wasington investigations are about.
There is about a 90% chance that either there will be no consequences laid to bear after the verdict if found guilty and a 90% chance the story will be buried or never come to a conclusion if found innocent.
I'd put it at 99% chance bush doesn't go to jail.
Which is the only issue i have about the investigation.
This investigation even if they find people guilty of crime WON'T put people in jail.

Guys, there is no crime here. People are talking about "Justice". If Bush did what is being suggested, it just means he did a very low-life thing worth hating a country for.
What leaders do in there county, legally, is there business. We just look like scum for working with people like this.
I mean, half the countries we work with do things we are not proud of. Doesn't mean it's a war crime to work with them. (Pakistan comes to mind)

It's a little different when the dirty things those countries/people do can be seen as helping you directly. Then it can be seen as a conflict of interest, which is a little more serious if it's true that Bush blocked the investigation.

Yea, blocking the investigation was the scummy part. However, there is no law that says we need to investigate what leaders in another countries do.
The right thing to do, would have been to investigate, and if it's true that this man killed all those people, stop working with him.
Not doing so, or actively making sure you don't, is not a crime.
A conflict of interest where you manipulate the situation in your favor is usually a crime.
I don't know if you have a saying like this in English but... it's not enough for the queen to be righteous... she has to seem so.

Well, if you have two rival powers, and one of them is your enemy, you have two choices.
A. Consider them both equally bad, and fight them both with your own people.
B. Help the people who you have a common enemy with, though funding/equipment/whatever, and let them do all the dirty work.
If B is an options, every country (including yours), takes it. We took it, and then didn't want to really know how bad our allies were. We wanted to just put our heads in the sand and keep funding them.
Again, something to despise, but not against the law. All this will do, is make more people hate America.
