How does gametrailers know?
4 ≈ One
Uhh... Let's remember the very basics of the PS3 please...
The thing is a fucking tank. I mean that structurally, and component wise. That costs 399.
Now think to yourself: "How the hell are they going to pack everything into a slim version?". The obvious answer is to shrink the parts. What do we know about shrinking parts? It costs a whole lot more to squeeze everything together like that.
So there's an upped price tag from 399. On this point, does it sound even PLAUSIBLE that people will be buying the PS3 Slim if it's going to cost more than 399? People are already reluctant to pick one up for its current price, let alone something that will more than likely cost them one hundred extra (just a guesstimate). Who knows? Maybe Sony will cut some more parts out of the console to get rid of that problem... which is another problem in its own right.
Here's another question for you: How are they going to keep that thing running cool and quiet? The heat output on the PS3 isn't like the 360, but it's still pretty damn hot. I don't see room for a fan in that thing, and if they manage to squeeze one it there it's going to be spinning pretty damn fast to keep that thing cooled.
With just those two points, I think the fate of the PS3 Slim is one of two choices
1) An expensive noise maker not many people will buy, with the possibilities of cut features/parts to keep price down, also possibly becoming the next 360 (overheat problems)
2) Does not even exist.
I'm placing my bets on number 2.
By life end:
Looks fake to me. I took this from the video info section on youtube, check out the comment I highlighted and then think about that.
I hope the ps3 slim gets a price cut and a backwards compatibility.
if it didn't there will be riot in the streets !

So.. this is a real Polystation3? Comes with a bunch of builtin games, right? Or does it have carts?
Seriously guys... who would believe this rumor is real... a slim PS3 makes its way to an underround philippine retailer, and some guy takes a picture that looks like a photoshhop fake, then claims "its real!" on some forums... and you guys think he's serious?
Heck, look at it, and the previous shots. Does it say "Sony" design to you? Pretty much everything Sony makes is sleek and shiny. Get over it. Its a fake, and a bad one at that.

He also took a video. Also, the Ps1 and Ps2 were not sleek at all but bulky and ugly. Let me also add the PS3 in the video matches the leaked photos of the PS3 slim months ago which showed the box. it also showed the PSP go and it's box.
Sweet!!!!!!!!!!

This is despite the release of their biggest IP on two platforms (GT5 and GTPSP), selling the PSP Go at a significant margin, and lowering hardware costs on the ps3 itself. The only way they'd still lose a comparable amount to last year on top of all that is if they plan to drop the price of the ps3 by a good bit. |
SCE as a unit no longer exists, they joined the Walkman unit with the SCE, so it's hard to judge where the losses will come from.

You missed option 3) the power suply box which makes alot of the heat will not be internal it will be external , like they did with the ps2 and like the 360 does now ,so thats how it will keep the heat down, no need for a noisey fan
