Forums - Sony - GT: Sony cant keep with leaks, the PS3 SLIM seen in the video is real

@ thetruthhurts, they will clear the old model first, then introduce a cheaper slim, there is no way they would not reduce the price from $400, especially as the slim is cheaper

actually...lets say the slim takes 350 to make, if they keep the 400 price thats $50 profit

@ Munkeh111, you may be right, however, this is Sony, so crazy pricing is never out of the scenario.

I never would have thought they would introduce the PsP Go at $249 either........and look what happened.

Releasing a slim and dropping the phat ps3 to $349 will not net them 13 million in sales this year. A price cut to $299 has to happen in some form.

They will take a loss on it, $400 is too much

lets say it takes 300 to make one keep it at the rumored 339 thats 39 profit

basically I think SONY will choose profit 1st

Sony forecasted that SCE would lose a similar amount this financial year as they did last. This is despite the release of their biggest IP on two platforms (GT5 and GTPSP), selling the PSP Go at a significant margin, and lowering hardware costs on the ps3 itself.

The only way they'd still lose a comparable amount to last year on top of all that is if they plan to drop the price of the ps3 by a good bit.

The PSP go is so overpriced to make up for the loss of money on PS3, they need PS3 sales to increase so they can sell more software

If this was real or not, the recent bundles could mean that they're trying to clear out stock to possibly introduce the slim. I would at least hope that it's cheaper than $399 or else some face palming would occur (unless current 'fat' PS3's get the price drop).
