Forums - Microsoft - Will We Ever See A 360 Slim

My only question is: why? I don't understand the draw... It's not like your console is a lap top, where the tiny, lightweight design has some purpose.

You might see the power brick disappear inside the block at some point soon.

Many people move consoles from place to place (to friends house or some other places). I regularly move my PS3 to different places, I don't see any reason why I should keep it in one place all the time. I know several people who move their consoles around practically all the time. They even take their consoles with them on holidays. Moving around small console is much easier than moving huge console.

For the people wondering about whether or not an Xbox 360 slim would overheat, im tempted to call them fools but instead I will say this. A Radeon 4870 X2 has the internal dimensions of a PS2 slim and yet its power usage is higher than a launch PS3. Since the Xbox 360 Jasper console uses less than 80W and a slimline model would be less than 50W you're smoking crack if you think its going to overheat.

Tease.

It could overheat if they don't bother to ventilate it properly. It's not like it was impossible to prevent the initial Xboxes from overheating, M$ just did not design it properly

Nope we need a BIGGER 360 with much bigger fans im talking JET PLANE SIZE!

lol

PS the reason sony is making a slim ps3 is because everyone is embarrassed to have one

Is it even remotely reasonable to even make such a statement that it would have any real likelihood sight unseen to overheat?

I'm sure MS would design a slim model and completely ignore overheating or the problems that have plagued the 360 in the past.

Because MS is run by Sony fanboys.

Also if they did it would not be copying Sony as I remember the MegaDrive 2 was a slim MegaDrive so I guess Sony copied Sega.

People wondered how the MegaDrive 2 would connect to the Mega-CD1 but Sega found a way so I have no doubt MS could find a way of getting the 360 HDD to work in a Slim model.
Maybe have the 360Slim lie flat and the HDD plug into the top?

A new xbox could fix the ventilation problems that caused the RRoD to theasper, true of that.

I will doubt that there will be a major overhaul, that would mean a new HD unless if somehows slims vertically rather then horizontally. Also it could have a slot-loading DVD player vs a tray, and maybe a smaller power brick. But I really doubt it, the 360 sems small enough for me and it is smaller then the original xbox, so I really doubt it. It its going to be redesigned, it would be more to be ease-of-use vs a overhaul.

Above I'm a proud Gran Turismo fan, not a Sony fanboy, and now a proud 360 owner, but sharing xbox live accts ATM

End of 2009 Predictions (made Jan 1, 2009): My predictions were pretty accurate, the 360 was over and the Wii was just under.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil
