Unlikely. DS userbase is far bigger.

Well, DQ X is going to be like the FFVII, bring the series to mainstream in all regions. Nintendo is going to pay the advertising of DQ X in West just like sony did for FFVII, and Nintendo do now how to advertise.
So, in Japan alone DQIX>DQX
WorldWide DQX>DQIX

Nope, though I do think it will be relatively close, falling between 250-500K short in the end of both games' sales. DQ9 gets the advantage for the 1 save slot spurring additional sales early, and the fact that more of the DQ fanbase is aging, and being able to play on the trains and whatnot is a large draw to the portable market, and to extra sales of DS/PSP games. That said, though, some of the gap will be closed just from the sheer name of Dragon Quest, and the improved visuals on the Wii may intrigue some people, particularly newer players to the franchise. However, DQ9 will reign supreme for a while... a long while.

Well, it has to be at least a year out. So with more Wiis sold by then, I'm sure it will at least come something close to this one. And maybe Nintendo will make a Special colored Wii to bundle with the game. Mean old Japan always getting the cool bundles...

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

The Wii version will be huge and should help in Japan. But it probably won't come close to outselling the DS version.

Unfortunately, there are those who don't appreciate the DQ series -- and most of those are in the non Japanese territories where the vast majority of Wii sales have occurred (five sixths of Wii sales have come outside of Japan, compared to just three-quarters of DS sales).

And of course, when S-E finally delivers the game is another consideration.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Userbase limitations alone should prevent that, precluding any other factors.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It will prolly sell similar to VII, maybe more if Nintendo does really put alot of effort into promotion (especially in the west). But I don't think it will sell more than IX.

Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)

Consoles Owned: NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, Game Boy, DS

We will have to wait until 2012 at the earliest to find out, anyways I'd say no.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
