Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why the Conduit bombed

some people need a lobotomy here.
Conduit bombed? it got one of the best sales among 3rd party core games there will be probably 140k first week with EU and JP numbers combined - how are those sales bad especially for a wii game when we know it will still be selling 8-9k a week year later. CoD:WaW with really mediocre first week sales hit 1mln thanks to great multiplayer and word of mouth so how Conduit can't top this game when it's obviously a better title and have better sales so far?
so if 90k first week in america mean a bomb than how many ps3 games bombed? Red Faction Guerrilla sold 50k in us and after 4 weeks it only managed to hit the number Conduit did in just one week.

why dont you compare it to some Wii FPS games and see where it will land. Like CODWaW and Red Steel. Both of those games sold well over a million, and if The Conduit sells a million I think HVS and Sega will be pleased.

Alright I'll compare...

Kiefer Sutherland >>> Kevin Sorbo

done.

Oh so you would prefer it have boxart like this then?

I will admit.  This works on sooo many levels.  Too bad they didn't think of it and it had to bomb.

Good point.  Its too bad we don't have numbers for 24: The Game so we can compare it to The Conduit.

I will say though, it made the Top 20 in NPD in its launch month so if The Conduit can't at least do that it bombed for sure.

I won't debate whether it was a flop or a hit. Ultimately, I think Wii fanboys were hoping the sales would be good enough to motivate other developers to bring higher quality and core games to the Wii. I don't think that was accomplished.

It looks like it will perform like most of the highly critially acclaimed Wii titles. Fail to break 500,000. While something like Carnival Games goes on to sell 5 million or more. I guess developers need to apply this axiom to their Wii development. Make an awful game and as long as it gets an E it will sell millons don't spend much time or money on making a high quality game on Wii because 90 % of the time they never pass 500,000.

Who the hell are all these people you mentioned?? (doesn't watch any TV, barely has time for movies)

But sir, you forget. Wii games only must sell 10k to break even

in actuality anyway, it takes about 180k to come even with costs for a Wii game, whereas it takes 208k-242k to break even with an HD game. So it will still make a bit of profit. I quote the source, though probably not exactly.
