It was outsold this week by Mario Kart Wii and that game's over a year old.
Add that to my list of reasons why the Conduit bombed.

I agree the Conduit did bomb but your reasons why are all wrong.
First off, since this is the Wii, we should be be comparing The Conduits sales to the best selling game (not bundled with a console) of all time!
The Conduit ( first week 94,469, second week 61,947, approximately 160 K for the first 2 weeks total)
Wii Play (for US only to be fair... first week 180,390, second week 122,890, approximately 300 k for the first 2 weeks total, 23.7 mil ltd)
How can you argue with that? The Conduit is OBVIOUSLY a huge bomb. I mean it only got a little more than half of Wii Play's sales for the first two weeks! That is just disgraceful! I know, I know you will say that Wii Play sold because it came with a Wii Remote but any true gamer knows quality when they see it, and Wii Play is top tier.
So how could HVS have performed better you ask? Well I will tell you!
Lucy Lawless (Xena) should have been Prometheus' (Kevin Sorbo) part. MUCH more hardcore if you ask me.
Also, why go with some actor from third-rate imitation Star Trek shows to play the part of Agent Ford, when a little show called Boston Legal was canceled? Thats right! Agent Ford should have been played by Captain James Tiberius Kirk himself, William Shatner! Oh and they should have used his rendition of "Common People" in the soundtrack...
I think that Rick Neilson was just too high profile of an entertainer to have associated with the likes of The Conduit. His involvement completely overshadowed it to the point that people only knew Rick Nielson was working on a game but they couldn't remember which one because they were so star-struck. Honestly, if a famous musician had to be involved with The Conduit, it would have been much better if HVS had gotten someone a bit less famous, like Glen Danzig. Imagine how great running and gunning would be set to various remixes of "Mother".
Finally, if you already have Captain Kirk as a voice actor for your game and you are looking for someone to play a bald man why not go for the royal flush and get Captain Piccard (Patrick Stewert) for Mr. Adams as well?
So you see, The Conduit did indeed bomb but if The Conduit 2 (if there is one) institutes the changes I have listed. I have no doubt it will HUGE!
(Oh, and I agree on the Chain-Saw. It worked for Scarface, Mad World, and Army of Darkness, so why not The Conduit?)

Does that mean it is dead meat. No? Quit being a hater. Mario Kart has strong legs and is much more well known than the Conduit. It didn't bomb. Do me a favor and wait and see how well it sales later. Also quit comparing the conduit with big FPS games that are much more well known than the conduit

Strong legs? Mario Kart's outselling the Conduit and it's been out for a year. How can a game that's being outsold by a game that's been out for over a year possibly be considered a hit? Why shouldn't I compare the Conduit with other shooters? What should I compare it to? RPG's? Point and click adventures? Sports franchises? What should I compare it to?

Hello? Its the Wii! The only thing any game should be compared to on the Wii are mini-game collections!

Mario Kart will continue to sell well throughout the life span of the Wii along with Wii Play, Wii Fit and presumably Wii Sports Resort. Very bad comparison as Conduit does not hold the same appeal as any of these games to the broader Wii user base.
If you had a very casual gaming household (a significant percentage of the Wii user base), those would be the four most likely titles you'd see on the shelf.
Conduit is targeted directly at a small minority niche within the larger Wii user base and doesn't have the legacy of core franchises like Metroid or Zelda or Call of Duty that still enjoy broader appeal.
While HV made a legitimate attempt to make Conduit more market friendly than say Mad World, while still being targeted at the core gamer audience, initial sales of Conduit appear to simply reflect that there is limited appeal for games of this type within the broader Wii user base.
Flop? No. It should pass 1m in sales which is successful for nearly any title, regardless of budget. But the pre-game hype led to unrealistic expectations for many. Almost as unrealistic as those who low balled their estimates in order to declare overwhelming "success" when initial sales surpassed those unrealistically low figures.
Best measure for whether a game really flopped or not would be the number of copies pressed and shipped to retail vs. the number of copies actually sold. Unless we start seeing Conduit go on sale at major retail outlets within the next month or so, it's safe to say that sales likely fell within Sega's projections.
This thread is proof that many people only read thread titles before responding...
