The 1m mark tends to be the benchmark for 'outstanding' sales these days on any platform. The 300,000 mark is generally the break-even benchmark for Wii titles as House of The Dead Overkill has shown (although that does depend on the budget used for the title obviously). I'll be very interested to see how much it manages to sell after a month in each territory, I'll guarantee you that it'll be generating profits for Sega by that time.

I can see publishers fighting tooth and nail to get hold of The Grinder, although I suspect that Sega already have a deal in place dependant on sales of The Conduit.

I don't agree with 1 million being the benchmark. House of The Dead 2&3 selling a million was pretty outstanding. I'm sure that exceeded Sega's expectations given its ports of old games and basically no advertising. Killzone 2 getting towards 2 million hasn't impressed a lot of people. The Conduit is some where in the middle of those two.

It's kind of the "magic number", as it's the same as a platinum record. This is regardless of actual cost, although unti the HD systems, it did guarantee a profit on all but the most expensive games (GTA, Final Fantasy).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

That may be true in terms of fans' opinions but as far as a sales perspective goes a title is gold at 500,000 units and platinum at 1 million. 1 million is the 'magic' figure for marketing, board members and shareholders as long as they've passed the profit making point. If they can go double or even triple platinum or more then those people will be over the moon, but 1 million, the platinum amount of sales, is the sweet spot for anyone that's associated with a title. Edit: Aw bugger, already been said, serves me right for stopping midway through a post to play The Conduit online, and I got pwned too lol

Have you actually played the game or are you just calliing it mediocre because that's what Gamepro said it was? I own the game and you call tell that a lot of time and effort went into making it. High Voltage actually treated Nintendo fans like first rate customers instead of third rate ones like several third parties do. The sales are larger than most other shooters on the Wii because it's actually worth buying. Is it perfect? No, but it is definitely not a mediocre game. Unfortunately they chose the wrong people to do voice acting in this game. If they made better choices, it would be bigger than five Halos.

Are you sure?  I don't know.  I could see it being bigger than four Halos but five doesn't really seem plausible.  I mean 5 is a LOT OF HALOS...

True.

Stop trying to be funny.  Didn't you hear that only Rol is allowed to do that?

There he is. The one and only RolStoppable.

Too bad he isn't as funny as he used to be, or so a lot of unfunny people say.

Yeah, and the problem is this is just another run of the mill FPS game. Its almost a throwback to N64 FPS games, very dull.
