Exactly. Not many people have the balls for that though :P

Well if you stole the car, the dealer would be at a loss.
If you pirate a game, nothing is lost - only your potential sale of a used copy, which would have only benefitted Gamestop anyway.

I know. But if people couldn't buy used games, many would be forced to buy new games, and that would easily make up for the people like you. |
It's about a balance.
Perhaps GameStop is exploiting the used market, I don't know as I have never been in a GameStop.... but selling your purchases, and someone else buying them is not devil's work. It provides a viable way into gaming for those of us without £40/$50/60 being spent for something that might take less than 10 hours and have no replay value.
Developers and publishers on HD systems are focussing more and more money on things that don't provide long lasting entertainment, but rather a cheap thrill.
On the Wii it is the opposite, and they are hardly putting any money in to a game that when completed is barely worth £10, never mind £40

I can't remember the last time I have heard anything as stupid as this.

i really dont care about the developers, if i can find a game i want in good condition ill buy it used.

Erm.... surely GameStop IS the dealer.
New car gets bought for $20k
1 year later owner sells it to dealer for $10k
Dealer sells it as a used car for $12k
New game gets bought for $50
4 months later owner sells it to GameStop for $15
GameStop sells it used for $20
----
Surely you see the connection.... now as I said, I don't know GameStop... perhaps they abuse the system.... but why not buy used from a different store if you feel their practices are not moral. If there aren't any other used game stores then that might be America's problem, GameStop has a used monopoly.

I agree, fundamentally its a sound business, and will never go away. But Gamestop pushes it too far. They encourage used buying over new only give the smallest mark down on the games possible. Saying you should pirate instead of buying used is extreme, but it's because of companies like Gamestop. I wouldn't mind buying used games at a local game store that used be located near me if I was in a strap for cash, but I don't see the point in supporting a company that hurts developers for their own personal benefit.
