Forums - PC - Google's head honcho's have fired some SHITS at Windows

It's happening.

I thought "Just wait" was relegated to the Sony discussion forum.

Either way, have fun on your umbuntu.

It's a good thing you own a game console if you hate windows, is all I'm saying, unless you like Chinese Checkers.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Windows 89.6%
Apple 8.9%

The rest 1.5%

Good luck Google....

Those are some impressive numbers but... The mighty can fall.

*points at PlayStation*

With the Playstation, consumers chose another console.

With Windows, you are simply forced to buy it, unless you just want a netbook. Advanced users need Windows for gaming, if nothing else.

Ah but as many many people have pointed out, PC gaming is 'niche' :P

To be honest I don't think Google pose a significant threat to MS in the OS market currently, but even if they achieve a success story similiar to Apple/Firefox and grab a small share of the pie I'll be happy. MS needs competition like any other business to keep itself sharp. Just look at what happened to the Xbox-360 transition, (with regards to service and software, not initial crappy hardware) without Sony, that would have never been the case.

Anything that requires my computer to be connected to the internet is a big no for me.

Like I said before the only way Google Chrome OS will be successful is if if I can go to a store (online or retail) and buy a computer with it already pre installed. And google knows this.

I have a feeling Google is gonna be able to have it done, by Fall next year, we'll be able to buy Sony, Toshiba, Acer, Gateway, HP, Dell, etc netbooks, laptops and maybe even desktops at your local Best Buy, Comp USA, amazon, buy.com, newegg, etc

I'm with those that are wary of full cloud computing. I'm cool with certain things, which is why i use gmail, google calendar, facebook for pics, etc.

But most of my stuff needs to remain accessible offline. school, work, finances in detail, etc.

Plus games. The OS would have to be able to run pc games locally and not just online. Then there's the whole issue about speed. Even though broadband is steadily increasing, its still slower, by far, than local; and that will always remain so.

Advanced PC usage is niche. Most people should just use netbooks.

That said, MS installs windows on PCs before they are brought to market. It's gonna be hard for one of those companies to make a deal with Google and shun MS. That is what it would take for this OS to make any impact whatsoever.

Apple, Sony, and Google vs. Microsoft. Who will win?

Not Microsoft. ;D

What does Sony have to do with it? They launched an OP now??? Sony are nowhere in PC land, and all of their machines come with Windows as standard.

Windows 7 will win a few plaudits and win quite a few (non fanboy) people over, Apple is only on Apple, and Google is being adopted by hardware manuufacturers... for netbooks only, netbooks being used as web browsers mainly.

People want Windows to suddenly vanish... guess what? It wont.

It's possible that Google OS and Apple can steal some customers from MS and Windows (the latter has found some moderate success).

What won't happen and what people seem to forget is that, ain't no way in hell that Fortune 500 companies are gonna change their windows and windows servers infrastructure anytime soon. At least not in the short term.

I bet you google uses windows internally right now and they'd be the first to have to change to their own OS and prove to other Fortune 500 companies that it's safe and secure, fast enough and does everything that a Fortune 500 company needs. And still some companies use programs such as SAP and Siebel which, as of right now, only run on Windows and not even Vista compatible AFAIK.

Hmmm.... chrome sucks (Google FTL)

Hmmm.... I prefer my apps OFFLINE and everything stored nice and local. If I want online access to my documents, there are easy ways to accomplish this with the software and OS I ALREADY HAVE (Google FTL)

Hmmm.... Windows 7 rocks and has far more support for the programs I want to run without having to resort to clunky emulation layers (MS FTW)

Google neets to STFU IMO (RIP 3D Realms)
