As a kid, I liked "Japanimation" because it was of a quality beyond what America was showing. Plus, women ran around almost naked! Now, with everything showing good quality artwork, I could care less about anime.

i like the plots, characthers and animation in the anime i watch, not much more to it than that.
i dont like much western animation, only The Simpsons, Futurama and Wallace and Gromit that i can think of offhand. both family guy and south park bore me, i dont find them funny either, and the less said about disney, the better imo.
^^^Disney was awesome from "The Little Mermaid" to "Hercules" (do not speak of Pocahantes, though). Then, they lost the magic.
Just more variety. I used to be a big Simpsons fan, but lost interest after the 10th season. I look at Futurama and Family Guy occasionally and never liked South Park. I really can't think of any other non-kiddie western animated show that I like.
I'm not big into anime anymore, but I still have a decent selection of titles. I just research anything I might find interesting and check it out. Usually I find myself entertained at the end of the series.
Plus I think the art is awesome.

Guess I should have said now. Yeah, I loved Batman back in the day. I also really don't know what's really out there nowadays. Even the last anime series I watched was Claymore and that was like 2 years ago.

Ignorance becomes you. One of the biggest hurdles most people need to overcome is the tendency to liken anime to cartoons. Anime really needs to overcome this connotation because an anime like Great Teacher Onizuka has more in common with House M.D. than Sponge Bob. People can't see that though. They just look at the fact that GTO and Sponge Bob are both animated and think they're closer to compare. It really is a shame that one of the biggest challenges for anime is overcoming its own medium. As a side note, America has produced the best animated films in the world courtesy of Disney. Aladdin, Hercules, Robin Hood, Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Mulan, and more are amazing films that people of ages young and old can enjoy and are stilling enjoying decades after their creation. |
Well im just stating my opinion. Ignorance becomes you.

I always have hated Anime. But maybe I never gave it enuff of a chance because it was so boring watching so Ive never seen more than perhaps 10 minutes of a episode or movie (and it was years ago since I last tried).
I never could get into it, there's no connection between me and what's happening on screen. It reminds me of how it's watching French movies, where it always feels that the people are from a completely different planet and we're simply not on the same level.
Thankfully these are both niche genres, or else I'd feel frustrated.

I disagree.
They followed up Hercules (1997) with Mulan (1998), Tarzan (1999), and Atlantis The Lost Empire (2001). After that they began churning out unworthy sequels such as Mulan II and Atlantis Milo's Return.
