Konami Says Let's Walk It Out

The Wii is about to get another workout from publisher Konami, seeking a bigger slice of the console's fitness hungry userbase with Walk It Out, the game that brings the thrill of walking outside to your living room.

With a soundtrack that spans more than a hundred songs, players will... well, they'll walk. But that walking will be done with Bemani-style rhythm, potentially ensuring that taking alternating steps in front of a television will become fun. Walk It Out employs the Wii Balance Board as well as Konami's own Dance Dance Revolution controller for accurate stepping action. It also supports plain old Wii Remote and Nunchuk for the peripheral phobic.

Konami's no stranger to staying in shape, having already shipped Let's Yoga and Let's Pilates for the Nintendo DS and run a fairly successful fitness business in Japan. Walk your way to screens of virtual walking that-a-way.

Looks like we've got another bomb in our hands, let's hope it gets defused before it's too late. Oh and from Konami, how strange.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Please cancel this one Konami. What are you thinking?  If you already have Wii Fit why would you ever even consider this.  As a Wiiware title maybe it would be ok but anything else is just stupid.

^ This is you!

lol konami making this?? for shame..

lol how far can companys go? i understand them jumping into the casual boat, and in the bussiness is always a plus to do something no one has done, but this is utterly ridiculous, they should invest this money(not much i suppose) in a new castlevania or MGS.

^ Well 2 new MGS (one for the HD's and one for the PSP) are being made, while a new Castlevania is also being made for the HD's.

Konami just doesnt care about the Wii, their stupidity is so big, that after 3 iterations of PES released , they finally are going to release the Wii version alongside every other version. They were releasing the game 8 - 9 months after the other versions, unbelievable.

Why don't you just walk somewhere useful. It's not like walking does much for your health.

i don't think it can sell

people don't need smth like 4 fitness games to stat fit

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Calm down people. This game is not for western audience. It`s Japanese hardcore, and it will sell alot in Japan.

Post Scriptum: Why so afraid of what`s new and different?

This won't sell at all in Japan and Fitness games are far more popular in the West than in Japan, so this is mainly aimed at the West.

People are not afraid of this by the way, but it's so ridiculous (on par with that hitchhicking game) that it won't get the attention of anyone at all. Why don't you just go out and walk, what's the point of walking on the same place without moving? And this is already an oversaturated market, fitness games are getting announced one after another every single day, plus there's already games that offer the walking routines and that are far more complete because they offer a lot of other activities.

Honestly this game looks just as bad as the Wii other tech demo titles. It doesn't even look like you get to use your own Mii. To be honest the market in Japan will exist for this title because Japan lacks the enviromental things found elsewhere in the world. Japan is a highly congested country and the ability to go for walks in the park virtual or not will appeal to casual gamers in Japan.

That being said it looks like they slapped a team of five people together gave them a four month dev cycle and a couple grand to produce a casual title ASAP.

Seriously like Nintendo's Mii titles, cheap fast and casual seems to be the new trend. And the sad thing is the casual gamer will continue to support these cheaply made titles!
