Well although Gold and Silver Remakes will do great, to compete with a main line DQ game in Japan is hard to do. Now if they were main line Pokemon games and not remakes... then defo Pokemon.
Diamond/Pearl are at 5.89 million in Japan, where as Fire Red/Leaf Green are at 3.15. The originals reached 7.22 million, however.
My guess is about 4.3 million for HG/SS, so I think Dragon Quest will beat it, with the outside chance of over 3 000 000 first week sales alone.
