Forums - Microsoft - EVERY GAME is coming to XBLA

For those of you who are too cheap to pay a dollar for a good Indie Game, here is the I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 song:

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Earthworm Jim has been removed from the Genesis poll.

It looks like we're getting a port of Toejam & Earl, and a remake of Earthworm Jim from Gameloft...

SEGA Community,

We are excited and honored to see the enthusiasm that surrounds our Genesis 20th Anniversary poll for the next SEGA game to be released on Xbox Live Arcade. We’ve been overwhelmed with the number of votes we’ve received. Thank you for the support that you’ve shown in the past few days.

Unfortunately, due to a licensing issue, we are no longer able to offer Earthworm Jim as an option in our poll. It was announced earlier today that Gameloft will be bringing Earthworm Jim to Xbox Live Arcade along with several other platforms. We are excited that our fans will soon be able to play this game.

However, we are still moving ahead with our plans to release Genesis-era SEGA games on Xbox Live Arcade. We understand that some people who voted for Earthworm Jim may have voted for another game on the poll if they had known that Earthworm Jim was not an option. So to be fair to everyone, we have reset our poll and it is open for voting once more. We encourage you to vote for your favorite game once per day, with Friday being the last day of voting. We will still announce our winner on Saturday, August 22nd.

Thank you again for your enthusiasm, and happy voting!

GC 2009: Battlefield 1943 Hits 1 Million

August 18, 2009 - Battlefield 1943, DICE's downloadable shooter released earlier this summer on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, has passed 1 million downloads. We learned before that it was the fastest selling Live Arcade game back when it was over 600,000 copies, but it seems the game hasn't lost much momentum.

GamerBytes: CAVE Asks - What Game Would You Like To See On XBLA?

Early last year we learned that two of CAVE's popular shooters, Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label X and Ketsui X , were denied their chance to be on the Xbox Live Arcade, and instead went to retail in Japan.

But they're not giving up just yet! On the official CAVE blog the developers are asking you this - "What CAVE game would you like to see come to the Xbox Live Arcade?"

The developers want their fans to e-mail them at blog360@mail.cave.co.jp with the header "XBLA" and which game you want to see. CAVE will then give a presentation for the most popular choice to Microsoft for it possibly getting onto Xbox Live Arcade.

This isn't an official poll like the Sega one appears to be, but they are willing to go and present their most popular title to Microsoft for a second time.

So CAVE fans - get to it!

Meant to post that yesterday. I voted for Guwange!

Shadow Complex May Get Downloadable Content

It's probably fair to say that Shadow Complex has been the most buzzed-about and best reviewed of Microsoft's "Summer of Arcade" releases. So given that, it only makes sense that Chair would be looking for more ways to bank on its popularity. Gamasutra reports that the game may see downloadable content packs in the future. In fact, creative director Donald Mustard all but promised it.

Asked about the possibility of adding extra modes, Mustard joked, "man, you're going to make me tip my hand too much." After his public relations representative pointed out that he didn't have to answer the question, he responded: "I think that's a really compelling idea -- how about that?" It's not exactly crack detective work to deduce that Chair has something up their sleeves, but there's no telling exactly what the additional content could be. New game modes to compliment the Proving Grounds are one possibility, but Chair could surprise us and let players take on the game as a different character as well.
