Why would they take out ps2/ps1 BC? Thats just stupid. What is it? 50 buks in savings? Sure but, come on they wouldnt do that.

Does anyone know the wording on the 80g model for its BC removal?

...Why so interested in playing last gen games? This is Nextgen :P
Besides, they may use emulation? (to my knowledge, like the Xbox360)

Anyway...backwards compatibility is a luxury, not a necessity ^^

 It is necessary to the PS3 getting a foothold in this gen.  I didn't have a PS2 when I bought my PS3, and that was a huge factor.  There was about a year of games that I missed out on the PS2 which basically made me look the other way on their currently small library.

 For the record I'm a huge PS3 and Sony supporter.  But it would be hard to support a decision like that.  Maybe it will have low impact, but I doubt it.

 Its software emulations so it is BC.. please start using at least half your brain it would be helpful.

they took out the card reader? How are you meant to look at your Pictures on a HDTV if you can't put your SD card in it?

This is a feature that my family use with the Wii all the time, I was hoping to have a HD version of it, That + a BluRay player seemed a good idea, so the Cheapest version of the PS3 was on the cards for a while, looks like that plan is dead. :(

 True, I also bought a PS3 to play some PS2 games, since my PS2 broke :( but i mainly bought it because of the games that were to come, and by the time, R:FOM. In my opinion, if people buy a PS3 it's because the want to play PS3 games, not PS2 titles. If they would rather take PS2 titles, then why not just buy a PS2..? 

Anyway, it's something less that would really be enjoyable for many ><

The first months when I had my PS2 I just played one or two PS one games on it but soon I only played PS2 games.

@ Soriku you were also dissapointed that your N64 games don't work on the Wii?

 USB to the PS3... not hard.. and the 80GB is going to be $499 if you want the card reader/2 other USB ports (if any of this is even true) spend the extra $100 and get Motorstorm with the console.

Gamespot reports that best buy confirmed a 40gb $399.99 ps3 coming out october 10th.

This is going to be huge. I think it might explode ps3 sales, to wii like sales. "IF" they advertise. Sony did perfect with the psp, can they do the same with the ps3?
