Forums - General - Do You Believe in Ghosts?

SyFy (the new name for the US Science Fiction or SciFi Channel) has been showing a marathon of Ghost Hunter's International today.  These seem like fairly interesting shows but I'm not sure there's really anything real about such shows as this or the evidence they say suggests paranormal phenomena eg. Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP).

Do you believe in ghosts or that these shows are at all credable or do you believe they are just sensationalism and that there is no evidence for ghosts or paranormal phenomena?

No im an athiest, but ironically i still believe in the potential.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

despite whatever you say being flamebait, I do.

When I was about 10 or 11 something happened that caused one of my action figures to fly 10 feet across my room(I forget how wide my room was exactly). Then one time the bathroom sink turned on by itself, although that could have easily been somebody just not turning off once using it.

I think GHI is a fun show to watch.. I don't know for certain about it's credibility though.
Like when they are speaking english to ghosts who are like in spain and other parts of the world that don't speak english.. Sometimes they do throw out some lines of non-english dialogue.. But it's hard to justify the fact that they are mostly speaking english to ghosts that don't know.. english.
I enjoy watching it though.
A Haunting is also really fun show to watch.

I think I've seen the show A Haunting.  I think it is the one with the narrator that has a very creepy voice, like the narrator of the one show that used to be about various murder on A & E, and that A Haunting is on the Discovery Channel.  Also these ads they are showing during the GHI commercials for the movie A Haunting in Connecticut that is supposed to be based on true events looks interesting but I don't know what true case it is supposed to be based on.

Eh... not really but I wouldn't rule it out... to much fun.

Had some fun ghost moments. My friend lived in a house that was used as a Civil War hospital. One time after a party he we are cleaning up down in his basement because some people snuck down there... As we're about to leave we notice the bomb shelter door is wide open so i move to close it...

and the thing slams shut by itself... and this is a bomb shelter door so it's no door a draft could close.

That house always had creaky stairs too. The old "sounds like someone is coming up and down but nobody is there" thing.

I haven't watched that, but I remember watching Weird Travels and those other haunted specials on the travel channel. I pretty much believed what they have to say about ghosts, so I believe in ghosts. I haven't experienced anything paranormal in my life though.

I don't know either. I can think of two other cases were the asctual hauntins were dramized for movie form:

Ammityville horror

Bell witch huantings (Is this correct?)

I don't believe in them.

The volume would be too vast. There would be approximately 100 billion ghosts all over the place. Why only so few?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I do. I've had some experiences when I was little that have no logical explanation whatsoever and the memory was too vivid. The place we lived in was just haunted and we weren't the only tenants who thought so. Also I saw the figure of a man when I was little several times. Without me ever telling my wife about it, one day she described to me, in detail, what seemed to be a ghostly figure while at work...dot for dot exactly how I once saw him...

I think the phenomenon is amazing and there are too many witnesses and accounts that can't all be passed off with simple logical explanations.
