Sony's hand is going to be forced on this one. Gaming sites have been speculating for months, Yahoo constantly posts rumors on the front page regarding a price cut- activision is threatening pulling support. To top it off, those massive adjustments pushed the ps360 gap to 8.73 mil.

About the PS360 gap. I said all along the gap was much bigger than 8 mill. Also my predicion of being 11 mill + ahead of PS3 is looking about right for end of 2009.

Even if manufactoring costs haven't been cut down enough to allow Sony to break even with a PS3 reduced in price (whether that by the current model or a slim), I'm sure they will still cut the price even if it means selling at a slight loss. If not they will lose all momentum next year as they will get destroyed over the holidays by the 360 (and wii). Sony also have a lot to gain from a price cut. More systems equals more software sales and as Sony has so many first/second party studios they stand to benefit the most from an increased install base.

Yep... If they don't cut the price they will be dragged through the mud even worse than last Christmas. A second holiday season like the last would be unrecoverable especially with a minor Xbox 360 price cut. Thats the reason why I would say that they will cut the price.
If Sony cuts, Microsoft cuts = pain.
If Sony doesn't cut, Microsoft cuts = terrible pain.
If Sony cuts, Microsoft doesn't cut = slight pleasure.
Thats an oversimplification for the American market at least. Thats the market where they are in the most danger, they can live without the UK but they can't live with an unrecoverable situation in America.

No ps3 price until after FF13 comes out. They would be stupid to drop the price when people would be reckless to play this game.
