Hmmm..this is tough. Id say Blue Dragon. The game was overall slightly below average, but man did it look good. I was expecting the next Dragon Quest game to have a similar presentation, but alas, Nintendo got their hands on the franchise.

What makes you think it would look like Blue Dragon if it were on those? Aside from Akira doing the art, Mistwalker is not S-E.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

The character designs and some of the cities, and dungeon layouts reminded me a lot of DQ VIII and Chrono Trigger. It of course has to do mostly with Akira. But I guess I was really just hoping for a DQ game with the same visual quality. That said Im still definitely looking forward to DQ IX on the DS.

Any developer could do that if they so chose. It doesn't have to be Dragon Quest.
But Blue Dragon does look good.

When people use graphics games for 360, they normally use Gears 2 etc. Personally PGR4 is THE most realistic graphics Ive seen for the 360. Look at that first PGR4 video. IMO there is no other game that looks that real on the 360 at all. It's insane. Posting replays of games is all fine, but no other racer comes near that currently out for gameplay graphics. |
Totally agree, PGR4 is an awesome game and I too haven't seen any game on 360 that surpasses it's graphics (overall) that is out to buy now, wish PGR5 was being made, love PGR games!

Yeah, The Prodigy ftw! Though "Omen" is my favourite on their current album. |
Right now I am really loving the Big Gundwon! That whole album is fucking awesome though.

The crazy thing is, PGR4 has the closet colour set and lighting set to reality Ive seen. I will point out though, that it looks better with rain or snow than a sunny day. Sunny day still looks amazing but when weather effects are there they have nailed everything to do with weather. That video actually doesn't do it justice. It looks clearer and more real on my HDTV. |
I'm going to have to replay it again. I can agree that the game has a perfect colour and lighting set and looks much better in the rain and the snow.
Forza 3 on the other hand is shaping up to be a beautiful game but the colours and lighting and reflections are abit off. The reflections get warped on indents on the cars chasis and there is way to much reflection. I wish Turn 10 would tone down the reflection and the game would look so much more realistic and possibly run even smoother.
Every car has a showroom shine finish untill it has done a few laps and has got dusty making the cars themselves look much more realistic.
I like this picture the most because the Bentley has done a few laps around the course and lost most of its reflection and the car looks dusty, this is the most realistic looking Forza 3 screenshot I think.

agreed and also the major reason most people initially looked at Halo 3's graphics and thought they sucked. |
Halo 3 might not have the best graphics but you can't argue with the constant 30fps and the 14 mile drawdistances. I'd love to know Killzone 2's drawdistance.
Belive it or not but awhile back I used a method to get out of the multiplayer maps in theater mode and could fly with the camera for miles and take pictures. The map always remained there no matter how far i went out. I'll post some pictures I took. You can see how the maps are built.

Thats Valhalla from miles away. I am assuming most of you have already played on Halo 3's multiplayer maps so you know which area is what already. I must have travelled up for about 5 minutes at like 50 miles an hour. You can still see the details on the map which is the tiny green bit between the snow and water. The Cyan colour is where the nothingness is, it turns out like that when you take a screenshot.

This is Snowbound from up in space and you have a clear shot of the planets and the sun. In Halo the skys are structured properly like in real life. The further you travel up the darker you get untill your in space, you can see the atmosphere of the level with its blueish glow. I must of travelled up a good 5 minutes and the map is miles below me.

This is Epitaph from about a mile away. The top part of the tower where the windows are the most bluish is the playable area. The next shot is pretty crazy.

This is at the peak of the Halo 3's draw distance. If i went another meter backwards everything would turn to nothingness (Cyan) The top of that tiny tower is where you play and it is still being rendered from this far away (14 miles). I must of held backwards on the joypad for like half an hour to get this far away, while doing other important things of course
Not even Crysis has drawdistances this far.

This is just a nice picture taken from outside of the Pitt. Obviously the graphics don't look that great because im viewing background props up close. Some of you might find this post useless but I find it interesting. Halo 3 is more technically impressive then it is visually impressive.
