Sony/Samsung have the best picture but are expensive. LG and Sharp and toshiba have good value. I personally won't touch anything else.

I got a great deal last year on a 42 inch LG Scarlet for $1,199. Full HD, 120Hz. That was last year on the Home Shopping Network. Im pretty sure there are better deals now. Anyways, the LG Scarlet is freaking awesome!!

Haha I saw that showing. Great price at the time. Although...I hate the ugliness of the Scarlet but if thats what you like more power to you.

Red backside and gaping hole in the middle of the frame...eeeew. Slimness was sexy though pre-LED.

Yeah I was a bit skeptical about the red backside part at first so I decided to go to my local Best Buy to watch it in person.... I was sold. It looked very elegant and slim. I couldnt pass up on this. 4 payments of $299 was great!!! I got my Scarlet one week after I ordered it so I didnt have to wait too long.

The biggest one you can find of course. :D

Sony/Samsung are definitely best, though LG and Toshiba are pretty good too. (I personally haven't been impressed with Sharp, but I haven't seen as many of their TVs) If you do go for a plasma, (which I don't recommend unless you're going over 55'') Panasonic is also good. Don't touch anything else though. I got a 32'' Vizio and I've regretted it ever sense. I mean, it's not a bad TV, but it's not worth the $75-$150 savings.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Samsung has a nice design and always have great products that tends to draw good reviews overall. But what you want to do is look into the specs. And the specs that match your needs.

- You'd preferably would want atleast 2 HDMIs
- 100hz (Update frequenzy. Smooth picture when there's much movement)
- Supported picture formats
- Contrast Ratio
- S-Video input?
- Scart connectivity?
- USB connectivity?
- Ethernet connectivity?

Also the screen size. Dont go out and buy a massive 52inch tv, unless you sit very far away from the TV. Otherwise it will do more harm than good. It should be something like - 4 inches for every foot away from the TV. So to get the most out of the picture a 40 inch TV would require that you're about 10 feet away from the TV. But you can go a few inches above that recomendation. So like a 40-46 inch tv if 10 feet away.

Good luck.

Get a 1080p projector...

Stick with Sony and Samsung for quality, Sharp and Toshiba for value. Any of the aforementioned are great brands.

XD what? The Toshiba Regza blows Sony and Samsung out of the water. Stay away from Sharp. buy a Toshiba, or get a Vizio and a home theater system.

Worst. advice. ever.

Vizio isn't a "budget" brand for nothing. The picture quality just can't match that of the other brands I mentioned. And Toshiba "blows Sony and Samsung out of the water"? wtf? Go online and read ANY reviews from ANY websites (cnet works well) and you will see that Sony and Samsung ALWAYS outperform Toshiba.

What? Did you not read my last post? I researched TVs for around four months before I bought one, I saw a Sony Bravia, and a Vizio running right next to eachother, off the same BR player, and the Sony looked like trash compaired to the Vizio. Vizio is a budget TV but they have a better picture than their counterparts around the same pricsrange, and the differance between them and the Upper end models really isn't all that great. thats why I chose to go with one, I saved green, and i get to laugh at the idiots buying other name brand TVs because they think the same way you do.
