Forums - Nintendo - Resident evil 2 remake?

Hmm, no, can't see that happening, ever.

Resident Evil 2 was a god game in its time.

Let the old games retire in peace and make new games.

I don't know if I agree with that because you have to bear in mind not everyone has played RE2. I've been gaming since the days of the NES but I am just now playing the Final Fantasy games via the GBA and DS. Remakes are an opportunity to make a game better and a chance for people who missed it to give it a try.

After playing RE5 I`d say that its more likely that the HD consoles would get any such remake. Although with RE:U2 it does give you hope for a Wii remake. Either way I`ll be buying it day one.

*facepalm*

Did you think that all came for free? That game is reported to be the most expensive in Capcom's history, and they admitted the delayed development cost them loads of profit last year.

That doesn't say "more likely".

You left out the part where it sold 4 million copies to retail in the first week...

It didn't. It had a great launch, but not that big. And that doesn't change the fact that Capcom had to wait over three years into this gen to get those sales.

With Darkside Chronicles chances for a real Resi 2 remake are next to none.

At this point it seems even the chances of a non-rail shooter Resi on Wii are next to none.

It only seems because you think you know Capcom's intention from this. They never said this is all the Wii is getting. It's just because this game didn't take as long to develop as a full RE game would, regardless of the system, and that any full RE game on the Wii is likely just in the beggining stages at best because RE5 just came out.

So what if Resi 5 just came out, Capcom worked on RE0 for N64, CV for Dreamcast and RE3 and Survivor for PS1 all at the same time.  RE0 was then moved to GC and was worked on while REmake was being made also.

You think they wait to finish a game before starting another, even with different platforms?

I don't "think". They said they were waiting until they finished with RE5 (note those other games were not on systems that took as much time and people).

Shipped/sold to retail, same thing, that's what matters to Capcom. And it did. I remember people were saying it would never sell out of its first shipment.

It didn't do that in any form. Not in a week. It took around a month. Still great sales, but how the hell does that change the fact that it took four years to develop (and didn't even though out the first three builds as 4 did)?

Wrong. That's 11 days after the Japan release, so it was not a week. Not a month, but still not a week. And for the last time. THAT WAS STILL YEARS AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE FIRST COME OUT.

It doesn't matter how fast it sold. If the next mega hit for Capcom takes that long, they have problems. Either they need to cut down on the ambition of the game or chose a platform with lower costs and time.

THIS IS NOT A THREAD FOR RE5!

MAKE A THREAD ABOUT RE5 IF YOU WANT, BUT KEEP THIS ABOUT RE2

Resi 5 was never delayed, it released in the only schedule they ever gave for a release.

I didn't use the word "delayed". And Capcom did state not being able to release it least year was a huge factor in their profit drop.
