Forums - General - What do you think is the greatest achievement mankind has made?

You're not a good reader are you?

I'm not going to explain myself, just read better.

Sounds like something I would say. However, unlike you, I'd have a good reason to say it. I did read your 2 line post, so try shutting up. Fire is not an achievement. We were cavemen before fire, we were cavemen after fire. Creating it definitely moved us forward as a species, but it didn't make us into the species we are today. Farming did.

I'm a mean person, so don't pay attention to that.

Still, LEARN HOW TO EFFING READ

I'll give you a hint.... MAKE

Ps: Without fire, we wouldn't have survived the ice age and died of diseases that come from eating raw food and bad water.

Well, I think that own thinking capacity was a great achievment. Well, to say something more especifial i would say philosophy, mother of all sciences even not beeing one. Philosophy made people think about their reality and helped us to change it.

Samus and Monty, how about you two give each other a big hug now? ^^

We're not fighting here, I'm just mean and cold person :( :(

Around the Network

We're not fighting here, I'm just a man with a mission.

But have you figured out what I mean already? :P

Fire may have already existed before us, but we learned how to make it and we couldn't do that before we discovered that now did we? :) Wasn't that hard, now was it?

Making fire and farming would both be very high in a top 10.

I would think electricity would qualify into a top 10. And maybe something with the steam tech or some other kind of stuff related to industrialization and transportation.

But I wonder if stuff like inventing the computer and the internet would qualify.

Paper and book printing. There's lots of important achievements.

Language...nothing beats that

Stop being so pretentious, it's not helping your case. And stop putting smiley faces every where, it just makes you more annoying. That said, fire was necessary for our survival, but farming was necessary for our uplifting. Without fire, we probably would have gone extinct. Without farming, we'd be a bunch of warm and cozy cavemen. Fire allowed us to survive, which millions of other species do on a daily basis. Farming allowed us to thrive and work our way to dominating the earth, something no other species has done. Both sides provide good points, so I'd rather not argue this. Methinks this thread would be better off with people giving dumb answers, like videogames or *insert favorite food/novel/toy here*.
