Forums - Gaming - Analysis: X360 underachieving and why it won't get a price-cut in 2009

The said:
@gebx take into account they make less money on each console since the price cut.

k, but should I ignore the games purchased with the console? the extra wireless remote? the Xbox Live membership?

Am I too assume that this console will just sit in a corner and play Kung-fu Panda all day?

^are software sales up YOY too? I wouldn't know , haven't looked into it.

Are Gold Memberships really profitable for MS? I was under the impression that LIVE was one of the bigger money sinks for the Xbox division.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Also, wasn't there a thread describing how the 360 ends up being more revenue for MS than the PS3 for Sony due to needed accessories? Perhaps those things should be added in?

@ The

You spent a lot of time to make a flawed analysis.

1. Your time periods don't match up. We have half a year of sales and yet you choose to use 3 quarters for one.

2. Theres no mention of how the PS3 has done over 12 months to give a baseline.

3. Your work is a mess and its hard to read.

4. Your assumptions about the hardware prices are flawed and you have no idea about the quantity of Arcades which are upgrade to Premium or Elite status with the HDDs.

xbox 360 is half the price of ps3 as an entry system.

yet it only scrapes 15-20k more a week.

by now it should have been 15 million ahead as predicted by vg users.

early last year a higher priced ps3 sold more per week many times 70k+ than a lower priced 360.

im hoping for a $100 price cut to go with a cheaper produced ps3, i need a 2nd ps3. i think it will do very very well, if it doesnt beat 360 this fall it should at least match sales of 360. but overall i think WW ps3 should sell more, but possibly mabey equal.

and the extra sales for 360 after price cuts hasnt brung any more games, for a console thats cheaper than wii into its 4rth year should be pumping out good exclusive games every few months.

im tired im logging off. bye

Total sales are flat for the 360, down for the PS3.

GTA IV come out last spring, this skews both PS3 and 360 numbers.

But again, even though the PS3 has had hit exclusives like Killzone 2 and Infamous come out this spring, its numbers are down, while the 360 was able to stay flat with just Ninja Blade, Halo Wars, and Star Ocean

I don't know if you're right or wrong because you screwed up. If theres a point to be made you lost it, you really should have thought a little harder about which data to use and how to present it.

^yeah, I get you. Anything else?
