Forums - Gaming - Analysis: X360 underachieving and why it won't get a price-cut in 2009

^Wouldn't you say the Pro console sales are at least 60% of the total sales of all 360 SKUs?

Well, I wouldn't exactly say it's underachieving, because it's doing well. More of it didn't exactly dominate like they wanted it to.

can't wait for Track Season 2009/2010, guna beast out!

Travis Touchdown ERECTION CONFIRMED!

Notice I never said the Xbox 360 was failing. I just think the latest price-cut has been a failure in the long run.

@legend11

OFcourse thats fantastic

But people will use different ways to see it

you see it like that, some people see it as a $199 console -= should outsell PS3 by a lot

some people see it & PS3 not possibly under-acheiving as they are both above 2nd & 3rd place consoels of last gen respectively

So overall, we can't come to a conclusion everyone will agree on.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

@gebx, were you expecting the Xbox to continue to be outsold by the PS3 while selling at half the price of it?

Actually I had expected the PS3 to pass the 360 in mid 2009 (prediction was made in 2007)...

You could say that I was a little off...

But it wasn't... see my post

Every console is down except the 360 compared to last year. The PS3 is down ONE MILLION console, but the 360 is UP 0.5 MILLION consoles.

If you consider that a long term failure than no matter what will say will sway your view.. hence this thread is just a waste of time...

^dude, 11 million a year selling at $200 is not success for any console in any planet, unless you are a 5 year old machine or older.

Not sure about just the Pros.  The Pro/Elite combo is definitely making about 75-85% of the sales, though.  I posted this recently in regards to NPD's statement that the average sale price of the 360 is $290.

65 * 300 = 19,500 (65% pros)
25 * 200 =   5,000 (25% arcades)
10 * 400 =   4,000 (10% elites)
-----------------------
                  28,500

28,500 / 100 = $285  So in actuallity the percentage of sales coming from the Pro/Elite models is around 75-85% to reach a total of $290 average.

If increasing revenue from console sales was the reason for the price cut then it was a failure.

However it was to increase the volume of sales. PS3 and Wii are down YOY 360 is up. Hence the price cut was a success.
