The 360 is doing great, it hasn't been out for as long as the xbox and its already on 31mil.

^this is the 360's peak year. These are the highest selling numbers it will ever achieve in a whole year.
^they were wrong as it was still priced higher than the Wii. But this whole year, it's been under the ideal $200 barrier.

I think for a $400 machine in a global recession it's doing well to hold its own.
Nobody knows what will happen in 2010 and beyond. The PS3 price cut may change nothing. Project Natal may change everything Microsoft may counter Sony at every step. The 360's best year may end up being in 2011.
On another note did anyone really expect the Xbox 360 to be the PS2 of this generation? From what I remember everyone expected the PS3 to crush it in 2007/2008. I'm sure there would have been a lot of disbelievers in 2006 and 2007 if they were told that the 360 was going to increase its lead in the first half of 2009.
The price-cut was very effective and perfectly timed. It pushed the Xbox360 far better than most of us would have thought. It outsold the PS3 for almost 10 months in a row (despite 2-3 weeks I guess). The Xbox360 is the only console being up YoY despite bein in a massive recession. The Xbox360 will be up like 100% over the last generation.
Saying the Xbox360 is underachieving is stupid.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

They were wrong and you may be wrong as well. There is no sign of slowing yet and the price can be cut more. Also, you have Halo: Reach and Natal coming next year. Natal may or may not take off but if it does then the 360 sales could be higher. This gen has shown that anything can happen. Also, way to many assumptions in the OP. The assumptions have make it a broad guess and not an analysis and you can switch some numbers around to make it suit what outcome you want. Not trying to be an ass, just letting you know it's not good to have many assumptions.
It's up YoY...maybe because it's the only console selling cheaper YoY? duh...
It's also the cheapest in the market, it's so surprising it's selling better? Why isn't it selling around 170K / week, huh? too much to ask? Comparing against last generation? please, and I say stupid things....

sigh, I guess we'll have to wait and see how the 360 fares this second half of the year....
2010 could be another banner year for the 360. Price cut is a definite by end of 2010 and Natal is most assuredly coming out then as well, it might make waves. We won't know until we see software. Year 5 could be 360's biggest yet.
