Forums - PC - Help with my "new" laptop!

I bought an open box laptop from newegg, and it just came.  It looks like it was owned by some guy for a few days, but he sent it back for some reason.  It was very well maintained, and it came with all the instruction manuals, cds, etc., even the backpack.  He seemed to know a lot about computers.  He had several games on the computer (I just found leftover icons), as well as PC-monitoring applications.  What I want to ask is, is there anything I need to do right now?  Normally, I'd update all the drivers, delete some bloatware, and get everything in working order.  Everything seems to be already done though.  I'm trying everything out to make sure nothings wrong, but I've yet to encounter any problems.  Again, is there anything I should do?

Around the Network

Hey, I would say you probably should just wipe the laptop back to the original factory settings and work forward from there. That way you don't have to worry about viruses etc that may have been introduced and you stat with a clean slate.

Tease.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm just going to go with a system restore, and go from there.

Wait a minute lets not be hasty there. First peruse their files. Look for child pornography, personal information, or credit card numbers. No reason to overlook the basics of extortion, identity theft, or credit card fraud. My father always said never look a gift horse in the mouth. The previous owner could become your very special friend.

I hope that was a joke.

We'll miss you George.
