Forums - Sony - PSP to become a phone!?? Apparently so...

Sony is reportedly looking into making the PSP into a smartphone as well. Super gaming and (idk what tyoe of smartphone sony could make) smartphone all in one!

Does this excite you? When could we see this? Some new iteration of the current psp models or the psp succesor?

Do you believe Sony will make a great device or might it feel rushed and cluttered from poor integration of a full blown handheld gaming device and a serious attempt at a competing smartphone?

If this smartphone PSP is to be on the PSP2, is the current PSP on it's way out in the next year or two?

Please discuss!

You heard it here first kiddies!

is sony still making a psp2 or was that just the pspgo?

I like the fact that a roumor has the source "fool".com :D

The pspgo has nothing to do with this new device.

@kowenicki
Yea, I'm just trying to make it my little trademark but I believe on this site it hasn't been posted yet. Correct me if i'm wrong with a link.

@leoj
It already is what? The psp1 is on it's way to the history books? Sorry you were very general.

why can't they get it right. Make a handheld with games and not overpriced parts.

The sites name is just tongue in cheek. The site is actually a stock/investor site. It's no joke. Their source is also from Japans stock market paper'blog. Again not a joke. U'd be a 'fool' not to listen.

Seriously though, the source is very credible.

It already is a phone is what I meant.. it has skype doesnt it?

If they make a smart phone PSP thing then they NEED to put it on Verizon. One of the biggest providers and we get screwed out of the best phones (iphone, palm pre, g1 google and a few others). I don't care about the envy. I might just switch providers when my 2 years are up. x.o

Well you guys have the Storm. Also apple hasnt renewed contract with at&t and is pitching the iphone to verizon. MS is also pitching their own smartphone to verizon. Things could be looking up for you and verizon.

Here's a link:

Having skype hardly qualifies it as a phone. Wi-Fi coverage is nowhere as widespread as mobile networks.
