Forums - Sony - Tomb Raider Underworld and New Prince of Persia sold better on PS3 than 360

''Tomb Raider was supposed to sell 2.5 million. that is why the dev team had to lay off alot of people''

By the end of this year, TRU will have sold around 3million copies on all consoles. VGC are missing PC and DS worldwide sales
 of the game.

LoL wut?

I find it a bit suspicious with a so called 8 million installed base gap that so many titles still sell more on PS3 :
- RE5
- SF4
- Tomb raider
- prince of persia
- burnout paradise

...

It could be either mean piracy has a big impact on 360 software sales OR the installed base gap is smaller than 8 million, which would not be so surprising considering many people bought multiple 360s due to failures...

It would be plausible if RE5 wasn't - mostly - a shooter. Shooters crowd is on 360, and it sold more on PS3, so I think my explanations work better.

Yeah sure, and Gears is not a shooter either since there's a cover system.

RE5 is very close of a standard shooter. My opinion is that it makes your point much weaker.

I think Japan had a little something to do with that.

Well we take worldwide sales, so Japan matters, like any other country actually...

Or should we exclude some ? Let's exclude the US ok ? (I'm not sure I get your point ;)

well, seeing as how the japanese love Resident Evil, and the ps3 has triple the install base in Japan.(I'm pretty sure that that is his point)
