PSP is dead software-wise. Last week, there was not one single PSP game that crossed 10.000 in NA. PSP-Go with its $250 (€) price-tag won't help either.

PS2 won't have huge software sales either, some titles here and there in the top50, but nothing big

The PS3 has the problem with its userbase. It is just way too small to compete against Wii/X360/DS combined. And without GT5, there is no game that could compete against a Wii Sports Resort / Wii Fit Plus or a new Halo.

So in a word: Pachter fails.... AGAIN!

Yeah and this thread is about this year. So you are saying PS3 / PSP will have good software sales THIS year, because there are 2 GTs coming NEXT year...?

Its a handheld video game system, not home console video game system.

According to google web definitions:

Console = A computer designed with the sole purpose of playing games. Often sold without keyboard.

PSP has a CPU, RAM, some memory storage, inputs, outputs, games... sounds like a computer designed with the purpose of playing games. I don't think it matters if its portable or not.

Arguing semantics, god I'm bored.

You can play handheld systems in your hand that's why they're called HANDheld, while you can only play consoles at home that's why they're called home consoles.

Also handhelds always  have weaker graphics and they always have a battery

Handheld console my friend. I admit theres a difference, one being a home console in housed in your home and one being a handheld console that you can travel around with. The definition above states computer designed to play games, so I'm not sure what having a battery has to do with it NOT being a console as a laptop is still considered a computer right? That has a battery, right?

As for the graphics comment I can play a SNES and it has crap graphics, it's still a console right? Hell, I can play a Wii and the graphics are weak. What's weaker graphics got to do with the price of fish?

My wii is not a console according to that crappy definition. I sometimes go on the internet with my wii. So, gaming is not the SOLE purpose. Fail

@Dirty : We're talking about this FISCAL year, ending april 2010. GT PSP releases in october, and GT5 will most likely release before the end of 2009 too (in any case, it will release during this fiscal year).

GoW 3 is due before the end of the fiscal year too.

Hmmm.... you're right, should really be changed to primary purpose in this day and age. Or maybe we should just drop the whole console thing and call them "entertainment systems" lol.

I could see this happeing because most games sell on the PS3 and 360.
wii owners pretty much buy frist partynintendo games.
and most wii owners own all consoles of just 2

And still wii sells the most software and most wii owne only own a wii. Please, don't come here and say ps3 software sells so great because it doesn't. How many 5 million sellers does ps3 have?
