People should not simply have to accept mediocrity, nor should they ever be asked to do so.
To some extent, you are looking at this the wrong way. Instead of asking whether there's a problem with the people who hate the Wii, why not ask whether there's a problem with the Wii itself? Criticism is not necessarily bad, and not necessarily incorrect, and I do not understand why so many feel that Nintendo should be beyond criticism.
If a system has crap games then it should be criticised, and there are a lot of mediocre games on the Wii. In fact there is an unusual amount of mediocre games on the Wii as a percentage of total games. Check game rankings, metacritic or even the likes of IGN, they'll all reinforce the notion that there's a reason that some owners of the Wii complain about the system. The average game on IGN for example is rated only a 6.5 (approx) about a point lower than the average PS3 game (A system which is considered to have a very weak lineup). The line-up thus far is weak, significantly weaker than one might expect at this point in its life. There are a handful of excellent games (MP3, Zelda, RE4, PM) but the quality falls away remarkably quick.
Now I agree, that non-owners complaining is annoying. Afterall ignorance is not a virtue. However, if owners want to complain they should, simply because they should never be asked to accept mediocrity simply because others find it annoying.

People are inherently insecure about their decisions and look for ways to compensate; this is one of them thus I doubt it will stop.
It would be nice though.

But the problem is not with the system's hardware, nor is it a problem with Nintendo's efforts, the problem lies entirely with third party efforts to date on the Wii ...

I also highly doubt that it will ever stop, but at least they can't blame me for not trying :D
@happy squrriel, I fully agree with you, some third party developers really take the WII for granted by producing cheep looking cash in games. Luckily the trend of buying these games is somehow dying now, so let that be a lesson now for developers. Capcom is so far for me the most appreciated 3rd party developer on the WII, Konami second as Capcom shows with Umbrella Chronicles, Zack & Wicky and WII love golf to have some real good stuff which make the WII worth it. 3 entirely different games and for each gamer something to look forward to.

You could also argue how useless "professional" game reviewers are due to their complete lack of anything resembling professionalism and that their slaves to their advertisers as it’s the only way to afford being a regular reviewer of this expensive hobby. But I’ll just wait for Erik Aston to bother with that.
Instead I’ll point out the DS’s average game score from IGN is 62.9 according to gamerankings. And Mac’s are 83.3%! Holy hell, according to this meaningless statistic from taken from a single gaming site, the Powerbook I’m typing on plays nothing but gold. =O
Picko, if you own a Wii, you should take Dark Knight’s advice and go play some Wii games and my advice of forgetting all the meaningless tags and stats made so overly important of this generation. Rent some stuff you wouldn’t think or otherwise trying. I got a rental’s worth of fun out of Spider-man 3’s web slinging and genuinely just laughing and how terrible the game was otherwise.
If you don’t own a Wii, then by your own reasoning, you’re annoying. =P
I get it John, and I totally agree. I see the comments trailing nearly every Wii sales article about how "I have a Wii and it's been collecting dust for 8 months" Well, boohoo. Don't you like playing games? I see complaint after complaint of "there's no games for it".
you know, I've looked at the 360 catalog, and using the same logic...there's no games for it. I haven't found a single game on the whole list I'm interested in. How about that? That must mean there's no games for it ... at all. Yeah, right.
Just what exactly are these people thinking? There's a ton of games (and good ones) for the Wii already. I can't even buy all of the ones I want to get so I do a lot of renting. I agree John, if they aren't happy with the Wii, why aren't they selling it for a premium to someone else?
If I bought something, used it, decided I didn't really like it, and found out I could sell it for more than I bought it....it would be sold before even a fraction of a jiffy passed! Between me, my son, and my daughters, my Wii hardly gets any rest. I'm thinking I'm going to need to buy a second one just to meet the demand in my household.
