There are already ads. Mostly as sponsers to videos, events, etc. This just allows them to do video ads in the windows instead of static pictures

I think this is a bad idea. If I'm already paying $50.00 a year for xbox live Gold, I don't want ads coming along to slow down my download speeds and to cause lags in games.

How exactly is that going to happen? If your downloading something, there is not an ad playing on the screen unless you go to an area with one. Also there are no ads while you are playing regular games on Live (1 vs 100 is an exception but its not while your playing)
