Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Jeff Gerstmann reviews The Conduit (40%)

What is even worse is that reviewers like him are helping publishers decide not to put certain genres on the Wii.  Why is it that the Wii has so little FPS/TPS and so many rail shooters?  EA apparently did research and decided Dead Space would be better as a rail shooter... Is it because of feedback from game reviewers saying the Wii doesn't work for FPS/TPS?  It is really sad that we still don't have any more third person games that control like Scarface for Wii.

Honestly, I think HVS is wasting money on Gladiator A.D.  It may be a fun game but I don't see it selling anywhere near as well as The Conduit or The Grinder.  If they were going to venture into another genre, personally I would have gone for a TPS because it is far more popular than fighting games...

I mean, when you think of the 360 you think Halo and Gears.  The PS3 is Killzone 2 and Uncharted/MGS...although LBP and Final Fantasy/Gran Turismo come to mind as well...  Where is the Wii's FPS/TPS combo?

You're right about everything you said.  I got Scarface and GTA4 and i'm like I wish i could control GTA like Scarface and Godfather(for the punching) but the wii will never get a game like GTA, Uncharted or Killzone because they are trying to get that wii fit money and those TPS/FPS on the wii will never see those numbers and the wii fit audience will never play those games because the control is more advance than wii sports.  Which make them think if its simple like a rail shooter they could get that audience.  I still know some friends that can't point and move with the analog stick.  I just hoping that the PS wands will have the same button layout as the wiimote, have some type of pointer for FPS/TPS and a patch for older games to use it like MGS, RE5, Uncharted, Killzone, etc. Then i won't need the wii no more until Zelda.

As for the Gladiator A.D. game... it would be a great game if you could control it like the PS wands demo with the man hold a sword and shield.  Well at least the sword part.

Yeah but from what we know it will be more similar to Punch-Out!

Man... If your friends can't point and shoot they really must have a hard time with dual analog...

Reviews seem largely based on whether a person has spent much time with Wii controls. Wii specific reviews acknowledge that Wii IR is far superior to Dual analogue sticks. People who have no FPS experience on the Wii have trouble with the new set up and say it's not as good as dual analogue sticks (which I can barely play with now as I struggle to aim).

And if you consider the controls to actually be a negative, and play most of your FPS's on an HD console, your really not going to see much of a reason to give this game a glowing review.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

good review. i like jeff, he earned my respect by giving TP what it deserved.

I can't complain too much about his TP review since that game was lacking some things like Voice Acting, Orchestral Score, Interesting Story etc. but seriously he rated Warioware: Smooth Moves higher!

Does this mean Target Terror>Conduit confirmed?

Huh? That's supposed to be necessary in a Zelda game now? o_O

Also, this was the very first Zelda game to have a big story with cutscenes and stuff. That was huge for Miyamoto, I guess! It starts slow, but man is it satisfying near the end.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

whatd he give it? (and its not like you can judge what TP deserved, since you never played it)

Oh don't get me wrong.  I LOVE TP.  I'm just saying that if you went out and tried to find flaws I can see where an 8.8 wasn't that bad of a score.  Still, the man scored Warioware better!

You have to nitpick to be a reviewer, sadly. I hate that. I prefer appreciating what we get instead of getting nothing at all.

And yeah, WW can't be better than TP! xD

Yeah Gerstmann is this most nitpicky professional reviewer I know of, and he obviously hates the Wii...

BTW.. Off Topic but Persona 4 rocks! I need to go back and beat that game. I sooo hope Atlus brings P5 to the PS3!

I have no problem with Edge using the whole scale although their reviews shouldn't be included in Metacritic/Gamerankings because their system doesn't jive with how anybody else scores games but even so this should be about a 6 on their scale...
