Forums - Microsoft - Crackdown vs. Infamous

Alright, so I logged some hours in on 'Infamous' and had some fun. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was biting a lot off Crackdown. I am not hating on the game, but it felt like a strong attempt by Punch-drunk to offer a PS3 version of Crackdown (with: lightning - without: guns, cars and throwing your car over walls).

I have this thread in the MS forum because it's really about Crackdown.

Discuss.

Crackdown is and will be the benchmark for this type of super-power sandbox game for sometime. It came out of nowhere for a lot of people and showed there is a healthy market for the genre.

Crackdown is in my top 5 games of this gen. InFamous does not chart.

Don't worry....Even Joystiq agrees that InFamous is trying to be Crackdown...Can't wait till the DC rolls in

Did Crackdown start the true-open sanbox Superhero type genre?

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Crackdown was the first open world game (non MMO) I actually enjoyed playing, and still one of the few I do like. It has the right mix of combat, exploring, and collectibles

Good for Infamous and the PS3 owners, Crackdown is an excelent game!

uhh... Story in Crackdown was none existant...the charecter selection was pointless....guns are pointless when you shoot lightning out of ur arse and to hold that agains a game is nitpicking.... the cars would have been nice but once again unessary with a travel mechanic that was created for infamous. Comaring these two games is fair but the difference in them are a matter of preferance.... i for one prefer to have a story in my game :)

Crackdown also has 2 player online co-op, double the chaos, carnage & fun.

I'm sure inFamous is a good game based on what i have seen and the little i have played at a buddys, but with it been only a 1 player game will it have the staying power of crackdown?

Oh, and Crackdown 2 is coming, 4 player online co-op sandbox? its too good to be true

Lastly? was Crackdown the first game to introduce co-op play in sandbox games?

We now have saints row 2 co-op and mercenaries 2 co-op. (i actually like mercenaries 2 now i'm playing it with a buddy)

Crackdown 2 is gonna blow my brains out of my ass.

I share your Crackdown 2 enthusiasm.
