Forums - Microsoft - 360 graphics progression. The reality.

That 1st racing shot that JaggedSac posted looks cool -- the 2nd one is just a terrain beauty shot, and I don't much care for it (since I know it could have been taken completely out of game "context").

If Forza 3 has nicely lit terrain tracks (I hate urban tracks), I am all over it. Some nice foliage would be sweet, but I know that's asking a bit much for a sim that wants to run 60 fps.

I actually prefer a good track to a good car -- cars can have some decent environment mapping and look good, but most of what I see when I'm playing -- is the track.  That's what I want to look good, personally.  That track in the first shot JaggedSac posted looks decent... nice lighting really makes the diff.  The 360 should be able to have some really high rez lightmapping, and I hope it shows here.

Some of you guys are annoying, damn.

The guy is excited for Forza 3 and this thread is for Forza fans. If you aren't interested just get out of the thread. There's no need for GT or PS3 games here. Just 360 games.

Its hard to imagine how Forza 3 could look any better, (please no GT snide remarks)

Selnor, you should, in order to quell the troll uprising, post some before and afters of other games on the 360.

Took your advice. Added to the OP already.

Feel free anyone else to post other 360 early to now game comparisons.

Q: Why do people always use racing games as an example for "graphics prowess"?

A: What other genre can you have an unskinned, basically static mesh, with the absolute highest texture resolution possible, take up most of a screenshot?

If there's a genre where the 360 should shine, its racing.  Where else can you have minimal game logic and game data, with maximum textures, to utilize the unified memory architecture?  It would be a serious embarassment if Forza 3 didn't look a bunch better than GT5, for that reason... it should have like 1.5x the texture memory.

What does GT5 have to do with this thread?  This is a comparison of an early 360 game with its sequel that is coming out shortly.

Selnor knew exactly what he was doing and exactly what was going to come from this thread by posting Forza 3 screens.

Its in the Microsoft discussion its got nothing to do with Sony or its fan/boys. So why are you here?

I'm glad the only ones bringing up sony or Ps3 is you and Selnor.

That is a pretty big jump for Splinter Cell. Way better textures and lighting. Looks like the models got a good bump as well.

No, you just being here, causing crap is bringing up Sony.

wow its amazing all the fanboys that completly ruined this thread.

I completly agree. The 360s visuals have improved DRAMATICALLY since 2005. Remember perfect dark 0?? Infact all consoles visuals have gotten better and this will only continue. Its good to see that the 360 isnt as maxed out as the fanboys like to claim. Theres obvioulsly (and always will be) more power under the hood of every console if developers truly try to utilize it

Long Live SHIO!
