if you scroll over the sound icon in the lowwer bar, and it says "Audio device not installed", then read on to fix it.
you have to get to control panel.
from there you go to "Hardware and Sound".
you should find that the 3rd file is "Sound"
the 2nd option in sound is "Change system sounds"
it will tell you that the audio device isn't installed, so it asks if you want to install it, say yes.
now test out the sounds that they give you, and press apply.
