Forums - Nintendo - Wii online system suggestions

Well I just got wiispeak since I got payed last Friday from work. I know their are only 1 game that supports wiispeak so I just wanted to get ready for conduit when it comes out. Anyway I found out again that you need more freaken friends codes for you to chat with someone who has wiispeak too. So what is the deal.

So my question is what do you think would make the wii online system better. Like if they ask you to make their online system from scratch what would you do.

For me I would first take away friend codes you need for every game you play. The only friend codes I could see leaving is for the console it self, but when you add someone an invite should be sent to the other person consle. I would also start using wiispeak into more online games since it makes games more fun. LIke WAW team is no fun at all without talking to someone. So adding wiispeak will make those games sooooo much funner.

Also if we get a lot of suggestions I will send it to Nintendo to let them see it and maybe they might get the picture.

I would say they need to change friends codes to be alpha-numeric and add another 8 digits.

Starcraft 2 ID: Gnizmo 229

Friend codes replaced with a username which is used for all games....that'll would be a good start.

1) Make Friend Codes universal. I shouldn't have a friend code for each game.
2) Ability to see what others are playing so I can join in, if they are on my System friend list.

I think those two things would fix 99% of my problems with online. I don't care about online chat, but guessing what my friends are playing and collection 12 different codes for the same person is a major hassle. I think the FCs are great as I can put whatever name I want on my person and don't have to worry about someone taking it.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Make Normal names not 40 digit numbers.
Make Wii speak compatible for all the games.
Have a proper friends list.

1 of 2 things

New framework.
Single system FC for all games and a Friend Channel. Theres no other problems. Not like you want to use a name you have to add some number to the end, yeesh the idea of locked name is so stupid. It's not like the DB doesn't store ID by number. It's that each game accessing a different FC is the big problem. This what limits games to no communications.

Current Framework.
The Friend Code Channel.(this would also be good in a New Framework too). The FCC(?) uses the core Wii FC. It can also scan all save games for FC. Once finding a FC it (upon user confirmation) will send all friends on your core Wii FC that you have [insert game here] and here is the FC. The reciever has the option to accept the FC. Also since the FCC has access to all FC it can activly check who is connected to what games. So no launching and searching.

This offers the best of both worlds. It allows all the pros of the FC, but patches the reaaly shitty parts. It just needs a FC Manager.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

^ This is you!

You are wrong about only 1 game supporting Wii Speak unless you are talking about Animal Crossing: City Folk being the only one before The Conduit release. So to my knowledge there are 2 games now that support Wii Speak (perhaps more but probably not yet).  Also, like everyone has said just have the Wii System code as the 1 FC you have to exchange with someone and let you know when your friends are online.

They should just have you register a username and pass with nintendo. Onec you have done that you could use all features of online. You could have a friends list and also have the ability to either mute or block users that you do not want to hear on Wii Speak.

You should have the ability to hit the + sign in any game and see the list of players there and either add to friend, block, mute, report etc...
