Do you really think the Queen is in it for the money?

The support of the people makes them worthy of power regardless of any election.

said the nazis about hitler...

yes im sure the queen is a complete altruist and wants no more money, oh wait, thats right, she was asking for MORE MONEY just this week

The Nazis won a majority in the Reichstag. E.L.E.C.T.E.D. They didn't have the support of most people though unlike our Monarchy.

If Germany would have had a Monarch then the Army could have kicked his Nazi arse out the moment he started making unjust laws against the people (Rights of Englishmen. Coronation Oath). Instead, what did this POLITICIAN do? He made the armed forces swear allegiance to him thus giving him complete power.

Godwin's Law says hi.

Humor me, are you Scottish or Welsh?

just because someone is popular dosent make them right btw

Sorry, but isn't that what an election is for? Picking the person who is popular, but not necessarily right (hell, one could argue that a PR system would make it worse).

"just because someone is popular dosent make them right btw"

Relevance?

SciFiBoy, if the majority of UK citizens want a Monarch (and I think they do) then you have to accept that, as a supporter of democracy

Plus The Queen is worth way more than £42M a year. I should think that tourism due to the royal family brings in more than that a year.

Also she is indespensible when it comes to foreign affairs. The Queen is liked almost everywhere over the globe.

@tombi123

when did we have this referendum on the monarchy that proved most people want one?

when did we they have refferendums in every other nation that said they like her?

well?

as for the popularity thing, yeah i dont know why i said that tbh, i tend to post sometimes without thinking.

keeping the monarchy for the sake of it just seems stupid to me, we do that, we aint a democracy.

Their are polls all the time about the Monarchy. That's why I asked if you were Welsh or Scottish because the polls are more republican leaning than in England, still a majority of monarchists though.

Canada and Australia have had referendums. No point in the UK having one because it's about 80-20 in England.

We don't keep them just for the sake of it. We keep them for the reasons I mentioned earlier and more. The Queen serves us not the other way round.

If there was a public vote on whether to keep the royal family or not I can garentee you that the british public would vote for them to stay.

You don't need a refferendum to prove The Queen is liked all over the world. Just watch the reception she gets when she visits other countries.

We don't just keep the monarchy for the sake of it. As I have said before, she is really good for relations with other countries, and she brings in more money than she costs the taxpayer.

She has no political power so it doesn't really make us any less democratic. Would you prefer the American version of democracy which is a dictatorship in disguise.
