I agree with most of what you're saying, but Microsoft doesn't seem to still be supporting the original xbox, and Sony is still supporting the PS2, even almost 3 years after the PS3 launch, so it seems the other way around right now. |
True but, Microsoft wasn't making any money on the original Xbox so they stop supporting it.
Sony had the luxury to keep supporting the PS2 after launching the PS3 because they were profit still to be made.
Now Microsoft will do with the Xbox 360 what Sony did or is doing with the PS2.
So Microsoft has the Luxury that Sony had with the PS2 with the Xbox 360, thats the so much mentioned 10 year life cycle.
I dont think Sony is thinking to launch a new Playstion along with the new Xbox within 2 years.
Sony can't afford a new Playstation console, not yet, not between 2011, 2012
The Natal Xbox 360 in 2010 is to extend the Xbox 360 life to another 5 years, 2015 as it said the 10 year life cycle console comments this gen..
Point is, Sony doesn't have the luxury that it had before with the PS2 to support both current console..
Sony can't do that now with the Ps3, they can't distract thier current user base away from the Ps3 with a PS4, not now, not yet, not by 2011.
Microsoft can support the Natal Xbox 360 till 2015 and launch a new Xbox within 2 years.
