Microsoft has signed a new deal with TV network Canal+ to bring services to Xbox 360 in France.

The Canal+ Group is most notable for movies and football programmes.

The partnership will initially focus on the on-demand services from Canal+, video-on-demand service Canalplay and specialist football channel Foot+.

Ultimately, it will be extended to other products of the Canal+ Group as well as other Microsoft platforms.

Never heard of Canal+, sounds a little like Sky. I hope it helps sells consoles in France.

Micrososoft knows what people want

not surprised... I heard somewhere on the internet that Hulu could come to the 360. I know you can watch hulu on PS3 but not since they blocked it recently.. If 360 would get hulu it would be huge but prob will never happen

Thank you Kowenicki

PS3 will need to outsell 360 by:

444,931 per month to catch it by Jan 2011. 102,676 per week.
266,958 per month to catch it by Jan 2012. 61,606 per week.
190,685 per month to catch it by Jan 2013. 44,004 per week.
148,310 per month to catch it by Jan 2014. 34,225 per week.

Current rate is:  -18,262 per month
Avge over last 6 mths
Negative number means 360 is outselling PS3 by that amount per mth on avge

That is a good addition, now they should expand that from France.

Canal + is freaking awesome! Shows new movies, premier league, la liga and Serie A and alot of shows etc.

But Canal + has like 8 different chanels, wonder if it get it all? Thers like Canal+, Canal+ HD, Canal + Sports1,2,3, Canal + classic etc etc.

Yet again another great thread from matt!
Yes MS knows where it's going!

Even in the UK canal+ is popular.

Microsoft are striking deals with some real big movers and shakers at the moment (eg SKY)

There are two threads on this? I'll paste my previous comment:

Damn, UK gets Sky, France gets Canal+... when does the US get a TV service?
Yeah, I know we have Netflix and it's freaking awesome, but I want TV also, damnit!

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Because we don't have anything like that in the US
