How about is sony going crazy...period...
I'm looking at that new Best Buy bundle...and sony is doing the Free PS3 thing again, if you buy a HDTV...WOW...I don't see how sony is going to turn a profit anytime soon with give aways like this. You have to wonder if there core businesses are performing that poorly to rate these giveaways.
^^you really think that anything in this world is free, nothing is.
IDK how nobody has thought of this yet but I think they are bundling to clear out the PS3's that are still at stores so they can bring in the slim.

Not free, but sold at a much much deeper loss. I guess time will tell, and the 10Q for this quarter, if this works or flops. Seems like shades of early 2008, but in that case, it was any HDTV, whereas this is a sony hdtv.
If Sony really wanted to move some hardware, they should seriously consider a good/great game (MGS4, KillZone 2, LBP) AND 5 free Blu Rays from their vast collection. Shoot, I'd actually consider it for my upstairs LCD if the price was right.

Sure, and rack up even greater losses...

Nintendo only bundles 1st party games which is cheaper than bundling 3rd party games.

Not really, Heruamon. It costs next to nada to make Blus - and Sony has a vast catalog of movies. Think about it - a game doesn't cost much, but they get a higher return for games over movies. Movies are very expendable - get folks motivated and get them interested in your machine. The game is the only thing they'd lose money on.
Plus, bundling first-party titles, as NJ5, would really save on costs.

Perhaps...I don't know the production cost of each brd, but I know it's not free, and neither are the production cost to make each one, plus you tack on packaging, and you're looking at a tidy sum. You then times 5, and for each game, and you're looking at some serious cost, not to mention lost revenue. All am saying is that...i wouldn't want to be the one making that decision.
