Well I just got the Windows 7 RC version and i have to say......It's a lot better then Vista performance wise, and I was one of the few that had no problems with Vista.

If your wondering my basic computer stats

CPU: Quad Core Duo, 3.0 GHZ Q9650

Gpu: GTX 285 in SLI

Ram: 4 Gigs

Anyway personally my big test for games is actually a PC version of Oblivion Modded up the ass so it actually pushes my comp about as much as Crysis and of course crysis itself. Crysis i didn't really see much of a difference at all running around 60 - 65 FPS

Oblivion is what made me happy though, something about windows 7 made my Modded Oblivion run smooth as buttah. FPS was never a problem but the game would hiccup and freeze up, also when I would do a runthrough the map with a flight mod it would have to wait around and usually load up the next cell, now I litterally can just fly through the whole map without that problem reach the other side of cyrodil in about 10 seconds with no graphical issues.

Also, I don't know wtf was wrong, but for some reason colors seem....better?? I just did the upgrade from vista where it saves all your setting....and colors seem more vibrant. I would have never noticed without the change.

Personally I like Vistas interface more, however with the performace increase, I really don't mind. Sitting Idle my RAM usage was at 44 percent and my CPU at 1 percent, now it's going at 27 percent and 0. 

I really like the performance boost, for those of you who have vista you have a few more days to get the RC version of it and you can upgrade without losing any of your files. I would definently check it out.

i have a question about the rc: windows vista came installed into my pc, so i would have to buy the full retail one after the rc system expires?

yeah you will but the RC will last until March so you have quite a long time. little bit longer then half a year.

yeah it vista 6.1 but its still running a lot better. Also ubuntu/linux almost no game support. You need windows for gaming performance.

I've been running it since January. My main computer is a MacBook Pro. Prior to January, my primary OS was Mac OS X.

Goddamn Microsoft actually made a decent product for once. I want to switch back to Mac OS X, but damn Windows 7 is significantly faster. :-/
