can any of you explain why are you getting a psp go? you are willing to pay more just to get a feeling of satisfaction because you have a device no one else have? the psp go is no a good deal, maybe when is around US$120 it will be worth getting since that is a fair price for it.

Well, its significantly more portable, more convenient, and will solve once and for all what IMO is the PSP's greatest weakness, load times. If you take a PSP-3000 and add a 16GB memory stick, the price is not much lower than the PSP-Go. I just don't get why people see $249 as a huge ripoff, when an 16GB iPod touch costs $299 and people have no problem with it? I know a PSP-Go won't have the universal appeal of the ipod touch (no one markets better than Apple), and I'm not saying their sales will be anyway comparable, but from a price value proposition, as a gamer/media whore the PSP-Go ravages the Ipod touchs' ringhole for value.

1) the 3000 will also have access to digital content and is US$80 less

2) you can get an iphone for US$200

3) an ipod touch is like a mini-pc because you can get a lot of apps for it and it does a lot of thing. If you dont have home brew there is not much to do on a PSP but play PSP games, it doesnt even have a calculator.

4) UMD drive is more expensive than a 16GB flash and sony is charging more for the GO

5) the 3000 can do everything the GO can but slide

6) you are paying US$80 beacuse it slides!

7) the screen is smaller on the GO

8) you can get a wii for that money

9) you can get a 360 and a game with that money

10) you can get a psp 3000 and 2 games with that money

11) you might be able to get a PS3 for US$50 more when the GO come out

12) With both PSP using digital content if there is a diference in loading time it will be too small to notice

TO THOSE SAYING THAT THEY WANT A PSP GO BECAUSE THEY DONT LIKE TO CARRY UMD, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD GAMES TO THE PSP 3000

1.  It's not as if people can't buy a 3000 which will be sold as well

2.  Everyone loves to forget that price only comes with a contract the iphone is 400 dollars by itself

3. It will have a planner as part of a firmware upgrade and that's why they made the devkits cost next to nothing is to get more games and applications developed for psp

4. Can i see a breakdown of what the pieces inside the PSP cost before we just start throwing around assumptions? Flash memory while coming down is price is still rather expensive.

5.The x000 series does not have bluetooth, and it will not have the analog clock and planner additions the Go is bringing and as Sony has made firmware updates that only work for newer PSP's(skype) I wouldn't be surprised if we see some thing later that are Go only.

6.  You are paying more to get a lighter, smaller, sleeker, version with better controls of the same console and onboard 16GB memory as well as the sliding screen.

7.  The screen is smaller by 12%.  Seeing as how it's still a larger screen than most portables i'm satisfied.

8. You can't take your Wii everywhere with you

9.  You can't take your 360 everywhere with you

10. But what about a memory stick for saving those games which is necessary unless you have onboard memory

11. I can't take my PS3 everywhere with me either

12. True but it will be much better than if x000 series you compared it too used UMD.

You can download the games on the 3000 but you still have to carry around a bulkier system with not as nice controls and if you want similar amount of memory it will cost you $65 or so dollars which brings you almost up the price of the go.

I will be completely shocked if the Go doesn't come with a major game preloaded and vouchers to download a cheaper game and a movie to help add value and herd people towards purchasing digital content.

I have owned a PSP 1000, and 2000 and I will be getting a Go.

The screen size looks a lot smaller. What are the exact dimensions of the 2? The Go's screen looks nearly an inch smaller. Could affect some older games. Also, this could make it easier to get better performance out of the machine since the games will be displayed at a lower resolution.

The Go screen is .5 in(1/2 inch) smaller than the 3000.

It's roughly the size of the Iphone, just a little bit bigger.

Is that horizontal size?  And confirmation please?

Maybe the picture angle is just weird because the Go's screen looks like an inch smaller horizontal and a half inch smaller vertical.

Not in all instances, but most, yes.  One rare example of where resolution isn't changing amonst many where the resolution does change when screens get smaller.

Could be the same resolution, although that would hurt it, I think, because things would look way too small then.  I guess I'll wait for an official announcement on the overall specs.

idk i like things on small screens to be of a large resolution it shows more detail if you look carefully and if used right could reduce pixelation, idk though just an opinion

all the screen sizes are measured by diagonal

i don't know if the PSP screen is true 16:9, if so:

PSP-3000, 4.3 inch: width 3.75; height 2.1; area 7.9

PSP Go, 3.8 inch: width 3.31; height 1.86; area 6.2

to me, the screen size of PSP Go is not too small, i even have no problem with the screen size my DSL

also, i don't mind tradiing the huge screen size for better portabiity

edit: the resolution of screen is the same among all PSP models, so PSP Go will definitely look better because the images are sharper
