Forums - Sony - I'm Buying a PSP for 20 bucks!

Ok, so E3 came around and thoroughly convinced me that I need to acquire both a Nintendo Wii and a PSP, bringing me up to a fully equipped arsenal for this gen.

I shopped around on ebay and craigslist for a bit, but then I found a better option.  Amazon has been trading games in like gamestop for the past few months, and possibly because they aren't getting much business they're offering a promotion that goes like this:  Trade in 75$ worth of games, and they'll give you an additional coupon for 75$ which is good for pretty much any video game system (including Dreamcast!)  So you end up with 150$ off any system you want, in exchange for the games you trade.

So, I gathered together some of my old PS2 and DS games, which seem to trade a little higher than Gamestop there (14$ for worms 2 DS??), and now I'm biding my time until I get my new PSP.  Yay :)

I'm leaning toward a PSP 3000, does anyone want to caution me about the screen problems?  From what I've read, the complaints about scanline issues with the 3000 got a lot quieter once the system was out for a while.  Which screen is better?  Actually, maybe I should make a different, more appropriately titled thread for this, as I'd like some responses...  Just thought I'd brag about my new PSP to be.  And let people know about the deal, which I believe is still in effect through tomorrow.

So not really $20, $150 worth of games and $20 cash =)

I'll let it go though, since you are buying a PSP. I have a 2000, so I'm not sure about the extent of the 3000 issues, but I would definitely choose a 3000 over a 2000 for the anti glare and mic.

A bit off-topic, but I'm getting a 3000 now that the GO has been unveiled. I'll take a much bigger screen and better price combo.

Did you read my post?  75$ worth of traded games, plus a 75$ dollar promotional coupon.

Also, I'm pretty sure I only traded games that are worth more at Amazon than at Gamestop.  So, I beat the (admittedly crappy) Gamestop trade in value, and then they doubled it.  On many of the games I actually made a profit, taking the original purchase into account.

For example:
Worms 2 (DS): 10$ new during a sale a few months ago, 14$ traded in.
Rhythm 'n Notes (DS):  8$ including shipping from ebay almost a year ago, 11$ traded in.

So, I guess you could blame my addiction to impulse buying cheap DS games, but from where I'm sitting it's a pretty sweet deal.

So they give you a bonus $75 for trading in $75 worth of games? Lol, nice.

Yeah, I didn't understand that it's 150$ total for 75$ in trades, either. And I was looking at their website. But it's a pretty great deal, for me anyway. I can't imagine trying to sell classics like

Rhythm 'n Notes
My Word Coach
Midway Arcade Treasures 2
Ape Escape Pumped and Primed (This game almost gave me carpel tunnel.)
Shining Tears
PS2 Lego Star Wars

On Ebay. The going rate is around the shipping price.

I also got rid of COD4 for the 360 in order to get above the 75$ limit. Getting 20$ doubled to 40$ for it was too tempting, and I figured with the sequel coming out I'll move on to that soon anyway.

i sent out my games few days ago. i will use this promotion to get a PSP-3000.
Or pre-order a white PSP Go (if i can trick the system).

my PSP phat is too heavy.....

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo
