PS3 Slim HDD thoughts

I'm curious about this topic lately cause ps3 Slim has been thrown around a few times in the last month. Does anyone remember when the ps2 went to the slim model?  The old fat model had the option for the 40 gig hdd, but when the slim ps2 came out, there was no option for that 40 gig or any other hdd for that matter. Which rendered your hdd purchase useless.

Now on to the ps3, one of the positives for that system is you can upgrade your hdd at any point. However, I am curious about the specs and dimensions of the eventual ps3 slim. Will it follow suit like the ps2 slim and not give any additional hdd features and will the size of it prevent the hdd from being removed/replaced?

I have 320 gb hdd in my ps3 as of now. If something were to happen to it, i would hate having to replace it with a slim model with a set hdd space and no option for upgrades. Do you think Sony would still allow this feature?  or all the talk about removing specs from it might be this option?

I know we are only talking about what ifs here, but just wondering if anyone else though about this before.

Around the Network

most games have MANDATORY installs... any ps3 slim will have a hardrive that you can install... thats my guess but if it doesnt it will at least be a good size

I think SONY will follow MS and make it that you have to buy their HDD to upgrade allowing them to get more revenue.

I think it would be impossible for Sony not to include a HDD in the slim if there is going to be one as this is an integral part of the PS3! The PSN needs it, the games need it and also applications on the console need it also!

The PS3 Slim not having a HDD is NOT going to happen, especially since the ones used are 2.5 drives which are tiny enough as it is!

Well if the rumored images are real (very likely) it'll come with a 120GB HDD, placing it as the "premium" model with the 160GB Uncharted bundle. This means it'll probably launch at $399 with the older models lowering to $299 or $349.

It will definitely have a HDD, my conclusion being based off of the pictures leaked. With all of the Sony leaks including the Go it's probably not too much of a long shot to say this imo.
