Forums - Nintendo - Help suggest a wii game for me

With money being tight, I've held off on buying any new games that aren't from the wii ware/virtual console page. The two most recent games I've picked up were "order up" (a shamefully overlooked niche title that can currently be purchased for $20) and "the blob" which I got for 50% off when circuit city was going out of business.

I've been holding on to a best buy gift card for ages (ie: since at least christmas) and I think it's finally time to cash it in.

Normally I don't post these kinds of threads cause I already have a set idea in my mind of what game I'm going to get. The problem is, there are several games on the market that I'm more or less equally excited for.

punch out wii ($50)

the conduit ($50)

tiger woods 10 ($60)

boom blox bash party ($40)

these are the main games I'm choosing from (not included are the "must have" july titles little king's story and wii sports resort or the now budget priced no more heroes and the $30 klonoa.... I could see myself owning any of these games as well.) (I'm also interested in excitebots, house of the dead: overkill, and madworld.... just not for over $30.)

Out of all these titles, I'm leaning towards boom blox 2. Not only is it $10 cheaper then the average game, but it's also universally considered a step up from the first game and it should be easy enough for my non-gamer girlfriend to get into.... Still, I need some advice.

alot of the games you said are pretty good games. if your unsure about them, try renting to see if you like them.

you could also try Overlord: Dark Legend.

You'll be able to pick up Boom Blox Bash Party and Tiger Woods pretty quickly on the used market for much cheaper than Best Buy prices and I don't see them going long without a retail price drop so unless you just have to have those games right now, you should wait on them for a price drop or watch the used game market.

The Conduit might see some activity on the used market depending on how many people are disappointed but I don't see a price drop coming too soon.  And Nintendo games seem to take forever to drop in price so Punch Out Wii will likely be where it is for a while.

Best use of your money is probably on Punch Out Wii.  Since you're already looking at getting some other "must-have" titles which will compete for your time too, the fun of it will be a bigger selling point than The Conduit's replayability.

Of those games, I've played Punch-Out!! and the Conduit. I'd go for Punch-Out!! probably, it's an extremely enjoyable game.

Or the Conduit if you want an online FPS.

If you want something to play with your girlfriend Boom Blox is a great option but unless you like puzzle games it won't have long term appeal other than short blasts here and there.

Tiger Woods has Disc Golf and she might even try regular golf, plus it's got a ton of content and online so it would keep you busy for a looooong time, plus it was Wii Motion +!! Despite what WoW said, you could be waiting many months for this to drop in price.

The Conduit is a fun FPS with awesome Wii controls. If you love online FPS this is the best option on Wii (CoDWaW is another good one). If it follows CoDWaW (big if) this may not see a price drop for a long time either.

Punch Out is also a great game, but I'd suggest downloading the VC NES or SNES version first. See how you and your girlfriend like it and then consider the Wii Version. It plays exactly like the NES game, except you get to fight all the characters again with different movesets in the Wii version. Wii version also has 2 player fighting but you have Wii Boxing.

Punch-Out!!

Probably the best game released so far this year. Then again, I used to play the NES version all the time. If you aren't sure about the game, you could always download the NES version as the Wii version is almost identical for the first half of the main game. The real cool thing about Punch-Out!! is Title Defense mode where you face everyone again only they have learned from their mistakes. They fake out a lot more in Title Defense, along with not being able to combo them as much. Some people also have protective gear that you must work around (like glass joe's helmet). The Challenges provide a lot of replayability, as they have you play the guys enough to find all their weaknesses.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

If you want to play local multiplayer, Boom Blox is probably your best option (I haven't played it personally, but from what I hear, it has good local multiplayer.) If you like online multiplayer, and arent overloaded with FPSs on other systems, Conduit would be your best bet. For single player, Punch-out!! all the way, especially if you played the NES version back in the day.

Overall, I recommend Punch-Out!!. It rocks your socks off.

Boom Blox or Tiger Woods. You can play Frolf with your girlfriend

I never updated this but for the sake of it:

I'm the proud owner of the awesome punch out wii!! (with my gift card) and the pretty good (newly discounted) house of the dead overkill.

soda popski kinda made me want to break my wall on title defense mode. I finally got passed him though. Watch your back bald bull.
