New "Sega" Handheld Coming

The days of Sega manufacturing hardware are over. But in these days of licensed technology and retro appreciation, Sega hardware still lives on, in this case with the return of the Nomad, Sega's handheld Genesis.

Now called the Retro Gen, and being released by hardware company Innex (who you've heard of before), it's a handheld that will play not only official Genesis/Mega Drive carts, but also "licensed games that have been downloaded and saved to an SD card using a special development cart".

The Retro Gen packs an in-built battery you can charge via USB, and even has an improved six-button layout that more closely resembles the original console's second, improved controller.

It'll be out in the US on July 25, and costs $50.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

As a huge Sega fan, I have absolutely no interest in this. If they made a handheld device that played and let you download classic Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, and Arcade games though I would totally shit myself and rocket to the moon!

I hope the next Sega device is a little more innovative.

IT is a little interesting, but at the same time not really. They have released a lot of the good Sega Gen games over and over and over already. By far not the only company to do that, but to make a system outta of doing it is just crazy.

Won't be too interested unless it has better games than the PSP.Getting a DS-i in December & used 2 play ISOs on my PSP b4 it spoilt. The ability to play ISOs is the only reason I'll(me & bros) get another PSP.

Upon closer inspection the round D-pad is a real turn-off.
