Forums - Sony - Worried about my future PS3!

No need to worry, I've never had a single hardware problem with a Sony console. I bought my first playstation in 1997.

Around the Network

All I see in this thread is a lot of anecdotal evidence and only 1 person who gives any sort of source outside of internet forums and friends.

But for what it's worth, my 60GB, and both of my friend's 60 GB PS3s are all doing fine. My friend's 40GB had his disc drive stop working though. And another friend's 160GB is doing fine.

new ps3 don't have the Ps2 chip and are 65nm, produce less heat. the YLOD is less frequent

everything from 40gb up it's not that prone to overheating. though some have lens problems, but they are easily fixed.
soon they are gonig to be 45nm even more reliable.
even with those problems ps3 failure rate its less 3%.

whats wrong with the 60 gig? i have it oft 2 years and 5 months nothing wrong with it.

Now my brothers special editon re5 xbox360 hm...died 2 times....

Not you again! there have been 2 thread in the last two weeks from two different people, about their PS3's getting YLOD. Your personal experiance means nothing here as it has happened to other people and the OP doesn't want it to happen to him.

So why does the personal experience of the 2 people who got YLOD count and Klaudkil's doesn't. In the end it's your own experience that matters and Klaudkil was just pointing out that he has had no problems with his 60gig version. For the record, I still have my launch ps2 and never had a problem with it, and I have a 60 gig ps3 with no problems. My Xbox still works fine too, so I would recommend buying one, and yes I can only base this on my personal experience.

Any piece of equipment can potentially break. This generation seems to indicate console reliability in this order: Wii, never hear of any issues -> PS3, some YLOD threads in forums, Xbox 360 (launch model plagued with issues, class action RROD lawsuit, and MS allocating 1.7 billion dollars in repairs.

Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Actually I never said anything about my personal experiance, I just quoted tow incidents of it happeneing, also, form all the people in thish thread, and another talking about their PS3s dying, and most of them are 60GB models, I would say my origional assesment still stands.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I hear about the RE5 bundled elite getting RROD much more then I hear about 60 GB PS3's getting "YLOD".

That is trolling my friend. The 360 was never brought up in the OP and has not place in this thread.

This thread is stealth troll. Why would you be afraid to buy a PS3 but you do have a 360. If you "had the guts" to buy a 360, id say you're perfectly fine to buy a PS3, so just quit it!

Whoa! easy there. The OP may have bought a newer 360 ( one with the new chipset), also, there isn't much to worry about since the 360s have a three year warrenty and MS is very good about fixing/ replacing 360s. The same cannot be said of Sony. This is why the OP is a little apprehensive. If I didn't know that the 60GB model was the only one with the real problems, I would be asking the same question as him.
